Food Quality

Pros:

  • "Great fresh food with a few different vegan options!"
  • "We ate two perfectly cooked rib eye steaks at the Bulls Head with a mixed starter of calamari chipolatas and houmous all were excellent."

  • "Seriously the best Steak & Kidney pie I have had and really made my day."
  • "Food beautifully cooked and served in lovely surroundings."

Cons:

  • "The food is a bit over priced to be honest."
  • "The butternut squash risotto lacked any type of flavour and again, lacked seasoning."
  • "Fish was not cooked through, it was also very oily."
  • "Mussels were extremely salty and somewhat overcooked."
  • "The hanging chicken kebabs looked as if they had been microwaved or boiled rather than grilled and had a rather unpleasantly anaemic appearance and little flavour."
  • "The mushroom pate is just wet slop."
  • "We had the fish & chips which was oily and pretty unappetising."

Service

Pros:

  • "Milly our waitress was very helpful and pleasant."
  • "Friendly and efficient service alongside a faultless roast, excellent quality and very good portions. Will absolutely return hopefully on a sunnier day in summer!"
  • "Really good service."
  • "The staff were wonderful, so warm and welcoming."
  • "Greeted by very nice staff and seated very quickly."
  • "The service from the minute we walked in was top rate, they clearly care about the pub and are knowledgeable about the food and drink."
  • "The staff served us promptly, bringing drinks and food out to us."

Cons:

  • "However, the service was quite honestly terrible."
  • "The service was a bit lacking, my friends were put on a different table to us after we had made a reservation."
  • "He must of said β€˜okay sound’ no less than 30 times, he forgot parts of orders, forgot drinks, took away some of the starter plates before everyone had finished eating."
  • "Staff not very knowledgeable and slow on the uptake."
  • "More importantly the service and staff we're below standard, very slow and unattentive."
  • "The waitress was slightly less than apologetic and suggested that we should be glad to have food."
  • "Service was slow and the staff were not knowledgeable. We waited 3/4 of an hour for our food, which was horrible."

Atmosphere & Decor

Pros:

  • "Nice to see dogs are allowed in. 😊"
  • "The pub looks smart straight away from outside, in fantastic condition for a building built 300 years ago!"
  • "This place is absolutely fantastic, the food is amazing, the staff are wonderful, the pub is stunning inside and out."
  • "Lovely spot in the countryside, but easily accessible from m42. Big garden, lots of dining space inside and building has a lot of character - fireplaces, antique lamps, lots of different nooks throughout."
  • "Beautiful pub with a fascinating history."
  • "The decor both inside and out was so inviting."
  • "A lovely country Pub, not far out from Solihull."

Cons:

  • "The only thing off was the slight smell coming from the gents lou!"
  • "To be honest, this place is nicely decorated etc etc however when visiting for their happy hour two for one pizza we were sufficiently disappointed."
  • "Utterly bland pub, poor layout and atmosphere... Has an identity crisis between a Beefeater Inn and a Weatherspoons. Nice location and outdoor area though."
  • "Could do with some TLC outside pub, ground around tables need sweeping and tables & chairs need rubbing down, repainting, linseed oil etc."
  • "I've downgraded my review owing to the constant appalling background music."
  • "Too pricey and not enough food selection. There were no pasta meals or many fish dishes."
  • "Maybe some WD40 on the ladies toilet door though."

Cons:

  • "Well it's very pretty and ambient but the food is overpriced."
