Scenery and Views
Pros:
"I never knew how beautiful Wales is it's a hidden gem."
"Beautiful location, a really nice day out."
"Lovely walk along the river with some stunning views and waterfalls."
"Scenic valley of the river neath, easy to moderate walk."
"This was a great walk, the entrance set in the Neath Valley. A landscape to rival The Lakes..."
"Stunning place, so magical and so many waterfalls it's silly!"
"One of most beautiful place I ever seen. I liked the small river and the greeneries."
"Absolutely stunning. Was not expecting nature so gorgeous and sort of tropical in Wales."
Cons:
"The walk was really beautiful but hard to appreciate fully in terrestrial rain."
"The parking is generally rammed and while there are several pubs in the village they are very pricey."
"The paths are narrow and very rough, not appropriate for wheelchairs and was very difficult to manoeuvre a buggy."
"Beautiful walks and so popular now. Recommend using the Park and Ride on summer weekends from Glyn-Neath to limit the environmental damage that so many visitors is causing."
"Spoilt in places by rubbish and poor maintenance of landscape, however natural or wild one may want it."
Accessibility and Facilities
Pros:
"Public toilets at the entrance and a few pubs which serve food."
"Parking along the road. Go in near the pub through the obvious gate. Nice countryside vibe and some hopped over bits but pretty flat dry path."
"Great hike. Some free parking available near the car park that says - all day parking £5 - closest to waterfalls."
"Toilets = before you enter the park u can use free of charge clean toilet"
"Easy and pleasant walk to the waterfalls - my son managed it when he was 3 to Gwladys and back."
"Good fun walk, easy for mobile person."
"Great place to walk for all abilities. Take in just one waterfall in an easy stroll or you can do all seven which is a very strenuous walk."
"Parking on Pontneathvaughan Road :) free."
Cons:
"Limited free street parking but other car parks were £5 for the day (Aug 2023)."
"This walk can be done on a circular route but it can also be done as a point to point and just double back which a few people do if they park the car near the Angel pub."
"Last Waterfall, you definitely need a head for heights and a bit of a risk taker as the path is right on the edge and crumbling in places."
"Only managed 1 waterfall - it was worth the 45 min walk. We did not go to the viewing point as a dog walker told us to cross the bridge and walk on and that we could also get behind the fall that way."
"Parking is on the road and it can be very busy when the weather is right."
"Parking spots are quite hard to find, you might end up parking in a nearby street, which for some reason have random cones on seemingly okay parking spaces."
"Would have got 5 stars but irresponsible dog owner who should no better letting dogs run wild."
"Lovely walk up to the waterfalls, can't fault it. Big surprise when I got back to the car, I had been clamped because I parked outside a house. Had to pay £50 to get unclmaped!!"
Trail and Path Conditions
Pros:
"This side was a bit boggy, and there weren't any gravel paths, but we still enjoyed it."
"What a really nice walk with plenty to see along the way."
"The walks are mainly paths however some slopes could do with a hand rail, less able walkers may not find it accessible for them."
"The paths are very muddy."
"Parking along the road. Go in near the pub through the obvious gate. Nice countryside vibe and some hopped over bits but pretty flat dry path."
"The walkway has mixed terrain and I’d defo recommend hiking shoes, wellies or old shoes as it can be quite muddy in places."
"There are a few different routes, with estimated times, so you can decide on the short/ longer route."
"Nice sturdy route round to see all the waterfalls."
Cons:
"Also with only one entrance exit creating a bit of a bottleneck. Wish this was better maintained or developed."
"The paths ahead can be very difficult for some."
"The steps to some of the waterfalls are very worn and slippery."
"A bit dodgy in places cannot take a buggy and not good for disabled access unfortunately."
"This access point to the falls is generally overrun with inappropriately dressed tourists who 'tromp' up to the falls in poor footwear."
"Access to the other falls is a little harder but not much. It's well worth going to see the other falls."
"The trail is wet and muddy in places, bring proper shoes!"
"The path gradually got more and more dangerous and we found ourselves scrambling across parts that were sheer drops."
