Cons:

  • "I had a salty fish chowder. Hake seemed not fresh."
  • "Ordered the crispy beef salad. Reasonably tasty but unfortunately someone had forgotten to chop the salad."
  • "Garlic Prawns are generally served with bread to soak up the garlic juices - none: ribeye steak 25% gristle, chips not cooked properly, mushrooms served warm at the edge cold in the middle - expensive meal poorly cooked."

Atmosphere & Location

Pros:

  • "Beautiful garden along the river."
  • "Lovely outdoor area, you feel like you should be sitting next to water."
  • "Unreal little pub!! So welcoming without being constantly on edge by the COVID regulations/restrictions."
  • "The atmosphere is very cosy and country side like pub."
  • "Great pub and lovely atmosphere."
  • "The pub is gloriously beautiful, with plenty of seating indoors and out."
  • "The atmosphere is lovely and homely."

Cons:

  • "Atmosphere OK, nothing special but nothing to complain about either."
  • "The building is very pleasant but the decor is quite average, a gas fire instead of a real one is such a mistake in a building like that."
  • "Bit weird here. They want you to form an orderly queue for the bar instead of standing at the bar in the traditional British way."
  • "The outside seating is very low to the ground, I'm over 6 foot tall and it was a challenge to get up and down to order at the bar."
  • "Came on a Wednesday evening in search of a couple of beers and some food... but very much designed for day use."
  • "The only problem with this place is that at peak times, it gets very busy."
  • "Dropped two stars because of a yapping dog and another dog owner walking in with his dog off the lead."

Value

Pros:

  • "Considering it was a very busy Sunday lunchtime (Mothering Sunday), the whole experience was excellent - it exceeded our expectations."
  • "The food a very good variety of dishes on the menu to cater for all palates and appetites for sure."
  • "The bill plus 10% tip was £20 per head (no alcohol) so reasonable as the portions were a good size."
  • "Menu has a good selection."
  • "Reasonable prices."
  • "The choice for gluten free is amazing & they make sure to let the kitchen know to cook separately."
  • "Definitely a few steps up from that, and still at reasonable prices for the quality of food that you get."

Cons:

  • "Only criticism was the £1.90 for a large soda & lime which was a little steep."
  • "Also £4.20 a pint of ale is overpriced and much more than other local pubs (average £3.50 for local ale)."
  • "The food was really good, though a tad on the expensive side."
  • "I personally found it a little too expensive for what it was."
  • "Expensive wine and beer too."
  • "Lovely location but over priced ‘bbq food’ which is not as described on the menu."
  • "Expensive prices. Small portions. Bad quality food."
