Accommodation

Pros:

  • "Room was beautiful with lovely views and a separate lounge room."
  • "Huge room, great view. Soft beds, a fridge, some cups and tea are waiting for you."
  • "Room was huge (Charles ll) and was perfect for a family of 4. We had gorgeous views of the grounds."
  • "The lodge itself was large and clean, with 2 rooms - 2 single beds and 1 double and 2 bathrooms."
  • "Our room was large and comfortable."
  • "The room was a cozy retreat with a delightful morning view."
  • "Spacious bedroom."

Cons:

  • "The room decor was incredibly out dated (looking like a retirement care home from the 80s), walls/windows with damp/mold."
  • "Arrived and immediately thought omg this is gorgeous however when we settled into the room our opinion changed. TV didn't work, nor did the extractor fan in the bathroom, carpet had holes where it joined, cobwebs in the window and the bath still had body hair from a previous occupant."
  • "Beautiful house outside, inside rather run down in the rooms."
  • "The overall condition of the lodge was tatty and worn."
  • "Incredible grounds but the rooms need a bit of TLC. Fading paint, stained carpets and mould in the bathroom."
  • "The room was a bit fawlty towers/salvation army furniture and didn't feel the most 'fire safe'."
  • "The bathroom door failed to close properly, the sofa bed was visibly dirty, the skirting boards were rotting, and the rubber seal was hanging off the main bathroom shower."

Staff and Service

Pros:

  • "The staff were all very lovely and attentive: all going above and beyond."
  • "The staff at breakfast were absolutely fabulous and attentive."

  • "The staff could not do enough for you."

Cons:

  • "There is nobody at the reception and although the phone keeps ringing, nobody comes to answer and nobody seems to care."
  • "The service was very slow. The fire alarm went off 7 times during the evening and there was no sense of urgency."
  • "The staff were aware of the venue's shortcomings."
  • "Staff at breakfast seemed very young and either under trained, or understaffed or both."
  • "The staff need were inexperienced and need training."
  • "The service was terrible; the barman had never worked in a bar; staff did not greet guests in a friendly manner."
  • "The staff have little enthusiasm."

Facilities

Pros:

  • "A beautiful grade 1/2 listed building with leisure facilities, including swimming pool, sauna snooker, tennis & squash courts and a beautiful parkland golf course in the valley."
  • "The golf course was in very good condition and very scenic with a fantastic par 5 18th."
  • "Stayed in a lodge and was very happy with it. Fully equipped with everything you need for cooking and cleaning."
  • "The gym and pool are accessible to all ages and they're clean and hygienic."
  • "The Italian gardens are gorgeous and the marquee is so large and has the most gorgeous views over the surrounding countryside."
  • "The lodge we stayed in was a wonderfully spacious and clean set in the middle of trees nearby a golf course."

Cons:

  • "Really had a horrible time here as the whole building was under going refurbishment (without the hotel letting us know!) filled with dust and fumes even in the rooms."
  • "There was refurbishment work going on during our stay which, although meant it wasn't particularly peaceful during the day."
  • "Regency Villas are, however, tired and in desperate need of updating into the 21st century."
  • "The swimming pool was cloudy with a 3-inch layer of grime adhered to the pool walls above the water level."
  • "It does however need some updating. Old bathrooms and equipment. A lot of function rooms are half finished."
  • "Broome Park is an imposing Grade 1 listed building and so there are limitations to the modernization permitted. Nevertheless, it seems distinctly tired and poorly maintained."
  • "The facilities, (swimming pool etc) are very tired and in need of an overhaul."
