Quality of Food

Pros:

  • "For my money it’s the best burger place in Nottingham. In a world of huge burgers these ones are simple, delicious and always hit the spot."
  • "What an amazing place! Now I've tried many burgers from all over place & BOHNS is certainly in my global top 10 of burgers!"
  • "Great burger place in the popular Hockley area in Nottingham. I had the lamb special burger on the occasion I went which was delicious along with some extremely tasty dirty fries!"
  • "Can see why this place has won awards! Huge selection. Something for everyone."
  • "The food here is amazing, little bit of a wait, almost an hour on food, appreciate it was on a busy Saturday but the table next to us came in after us, and had finished their food before ours came out. It was worth the wait though as the burgers were delicious and the staff were very friendly."

Cons:

  • "The burgers are all smash burgers and dripping in sauces so you don't get to taste the beef. More importantly, they are nowhere near big enough to satisfy a hungry appetite."
  • "Not the best I've ever had but good burgers nonetheless. The Cheeky Cow burger was full of flavour but a bit lacking considering it's the most expensive burger on the menu."
  • "Burgers were good but I do begrudge paying so much extra for fries, you end up paying nearly £20 for burgers and fries. Don't get me wrong the burgers are fabulous but really should come with fries at that price."
  • "The burgers/ food are way overpriced, they don't include a side dish like chips, like almost every other burger menu."
  • "Came for lunch, service was slow. Firstly chips are excellent. Burger was average, the bun was denser than 'Donald' and took any flavor away from the burger."

Service

Pros:

  • "Service was efficient and friendly, the music was at a reasonable level and the atmosphere was good."
  • "The 2 members of staff that worked at BOHNS this lunchtime were fantastic. Very friendly & service was excellent."
  • "Excellent food and service, great value too."
  • "Our server Molly was fantastic and such a lovely person. She even goes the extra mile by adding fruit to your drink that matches the flavour."
  • "Cracking burgers. Loaded fries are awesome, but watch out, they've got a kick to them! Service was great, super friendly."

Cons:

  • "Service could be improved, a bit slow."
  • "We appreciate it that Friday’s are busy nights, but the customer service we received was really poor."
  • "Tried to book online for two people and found it was only possible to book for five and above. Walked in as directed to be met by snobby, rude staff who said it would be at least a thirty minute wait."
  • "The staff were welcoming and happy to help which is always nice to see! Bohns was recommended to me as I really enjoyed Fat Hippos the last time I was in Nottingham. Generally the food was really enjoyable. I had the PB+J burger, dirty fries and we shared some camembert bites. For me the burger was a little too bread heavy but that didn't take away from how nice it was."
  • "Whats the point having a closing time if you dont stick with it... walked in at 3:45 someone behind the bar not even wanting to talk to us then someone came out of the kitchen to say they've stopped serving tho there was 2 tables in so clearly just wanted to get them gone and couldn't be bothered with anyone else and wanted to go home early"

Ambiance

Pros:

  • "It's a trendy basement restaurant, popular with students and millennials."
  • "What a hidden gem! I visited with my friend for the first time last week and we loved it. It has a lovely cosy chilled out atmosphere."
  • "A great selection on the menu.... amazing flavours. Just absolutely knockout. A lovely setup downstairs, chilled vibes and lovely staff."
  • "Bohns Burger in Nottingham: Where taste reigns supreme. Prepare your taste buds for an epic journey of flavours. This burger joint is a culinary masterpiece that will have you questioning all other burgers. It's so good, it should come with a warning label: May cause obsessive cravings and burger enlightenment. Proceed with caution, as you may never want to eat any other burger again. Absolutely burgerlicious!"
  • "Probably the best burger I've had in ages, the venue has tables outside which are perfect for summer but the restaurant itself itself is situated downstairs. We were surprised at how spacious it was and the service was great - fast with knowledgeable servers who were happy to recommend burgers and beers etc. Lots of alcohol free beers to try and although the burgers don't come with sides, there are plenty to choose from and the burgers are so filling that we ended up sharing a bowl of fries! Highly recommend but it does get busy so book ahead."

Cons:

  • "We appreciate it that Friday’s are busy nights, but the customer service we received was really poor. When we first got to the restaurant we were told we could go sit at a table so we did. It was very noisy which I was struggling with but we decided to stay as we had been struggling to decide where to eat."
  • "I’m sure the food is fabulous but the attitude is poor! I arrived and simply said ‘we’ve not been here before but I’ve read you don’t take reservations we just have to turn up?’ To which I got a dead pan response ‘well there’s no tables’ to which I responded ‘ok, do we just wait then & get a drink’ … ‘well there’s no tables so’ You get the jist - we were not welcome!"
  • "The food came fairly quickly and was hot. Great options, friendly atmosphere. Clean. Not wheelchair friendly"
  • "ENVIRONMENT: very uncomfortable, we arrived at 7pm yesterday and the place was very very cold. Outside there were about 0 degrees and inside the radiators were not even turned on. We had to ask to turn them on. Very very uncomfortable we almost left the place. Don't think we are going back during winter."
