Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The Harris’s beetroot, shallots, almond, salsa verde dressing filling was gloriously tasty!"
  • "The mackerel and nduja sarnie - which was so delicious, but the best thing we had was the Honey, Feta and Fennel pastry."
  • "I tried the honey, feta, fennel seed pastry.. it's huge and all the flavors work together."
  • "The orange and poppyseed pastry was also very good as well as the feta and honey pastry, and there was lots more to choose from."
  • "The pastries were really good. On the very sweet side... But whats not to like from a very sweet pastry?"
  • "I tried many different pastries and they were all great. A real gem in Dalston."
  • "The feta honey and fennel seed pastry is a must try too! The flavours complement each other so well."
  • "The potato sourdough with poppy seeds is phenomenal."

Cons:

  • "But the sourdough was on the raw side in the middle. A bread should not stick to a bread knife when slicing, nor its slices feel sticky."
  • "I also got a Fruit Custard pastry which looked the part but I sadly didn’t rate. The custard was far too thin, and the fruit needed sieving."
  • "The cinnamon pastry was disappointing as it lacked flavour (needs a lot more cinnamon)."
  • "Pastries were good, but not amazing."
  • "The aperol spritz was watery and we saw the barman add just a splash of prosecco."
  • "The paneer tasted like tofu in my opinion, and the sandwich was really lacking in flavor."
  • "Was a bit underwhelmed by the £7.50 cheese and pickle toastie; maybe I got there too late and all the other sandwiches were sold out."
  • "The only thing better than their name is their cinnamon bun. Delicious bakery serving the local area that includes a rustic cafe area if you're coming in off of the street with both indoor and outdoor spots."

Service and Staff

Pros:

  • "Dog friendly. And sat outside which was covered so it didn’t matter that it was raining."
  • "Coffee was good, staff super friendly and seemed to be having a nice time of things."
  • "Definitely worth a visit."
  • "Plus the staffs are so nice and friendly! Had a pleasant time here☺️"
  • "The staff are very friendly."
  • "I joined a baking workshop today and am really content with everything."
  • "The staff is so slow at this place. Everytime. You wait in line for 25 minutes to order £4 cinnamon bun and a coffee and then it takes the staff another 25 minutes to get out of there."
  • "The staff haven't been particularly sympathetic either."

Cons:

  • "I find it unacceptable having to wait for 30+ minutes in the queue just to order."
  • "However, it's worth noting that queues can be quite lengthy on weekends."
  • "Adds a certain je ne sais quoi. The beverages here distinctly underwhelming. too bare-knuckled for me."
  • "The staff is way too rude and patronising which given the crazy prices there is really just unbelievable."
  • "The person on till and all rounders were unfriendly!"
  • "The barista unfortunately did not realize while I was asking for refund, that my partner was still on table 2, and unfortunately she heard all the silly comments."
  • "Despite the great reviews, I ordered a pastry box from The Dusty Knuckle for my friend’s birthday to be delivered to her place. Unfortunately, my friend informed me that after waiting excitedly for her present the entire day, it never arrived."
  • "I was having a drink at the dalston rooftop, then as I was walking by the alley, I smell a bakery. We walk to the back and the guys at dusty knuckle had just finished baking loads of bread for their hotel clients."

Ambiance and Location

Pros:

  • "Fantastic space, great vibes, outdoor seating, get there early as they do tend to sell out!"
  • "Super bakery, and a lovely spot for some lunch."
  • "Most probably the best bakery in London. The location itself is quite amazing."
  • "The Dusty Knuckle Bakery is exceptional, offering incredible coffee and a delightful selection of pastries."
  • "This was absolutely incredible! For a week lunch or weekend brunch, the food as well as the spot with the outdoor courtyard is ideal."
  • "Location on streetview is outdated, you need to go past the entrance of Kingland's car park, at the end of Abbot St."
  • "Love their bread and bakes! A perfect spot for coffee and breakfast, or a nice sandwich lunch."
  • "Nice vibe place. The location can trick you, you need to walk till the end of the road."

Cons:

  • "Also the toilets are disgusting, why is there no hand soap? I think it's against the law... And absolutely not fit for wheelchair access !"
  • "The Acme Fire Cult should at least try to control the smoke from their outdoor BBQ. Right now it flies all over the yard."
  • "Great bread, but I was a bit disappointed because the girl at the till didn't want to slice my bread as 'they don't do that because it is too busy'."
  • "I've been living in Dalston for over a year and only discovered this place today. The best places are hard to find."
  • "The patio area is dirty and the outside toilets are disgusting."
  • "Came here for the peperonata and bean stew with salsa verde, which tasted nice. But it came in a small soup bowl that was definitely not worth the £9."
  • "Great bakery, lovely pastries, but unfortunately I have real hygiene issues with this place."
  • "We came all the way from the west side of town only to learn they decided to close an hour earlier than normal (2pm, instead of normal 3pm) We arrived at 1:55."
