Decor and Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "Wonderfully decorated space in the heart of Guildford."
  • "An atmospheric doorway with a Victorian gentleman's club vibe, leading to a large open bar area with multi-room dining."
  • "The decoration is different and I like it, such as comfortable furniture."
  • "Love the crazy decor, the mixed detailed wallpaper, and the many paintings make the whole interior so interesting and unique."
  • "It’s a nice place, very big and the decor is tasteful."
  • "The interior is very trendy and atmosphere is a chilled out vibe."
  • "Loved this place. Eclectic decor, a mix of classic old and trendy modern furniture blend together with soft lighting to create a wonderful, warm atmosphere."
  • "Very nice inside, the food was good and a nice selection of cocktails for the ladies."

Cons:

  • "It was difficult to find the place, it is inside a hall and a kind of a mini shopping center."
  • "The atmosphere is a 'mh maybe', it tries to be cool/cosy and it is sometimes successful in that but the furniture looks a bit dull."
  • "The decor is horrendously contrived. Nothing organic or naturally developed about it."
  • "A cold, undercooked steak with only fries, no veg, don't bother with the side order of garlic prawns, three weeny prawns on a skewer hardly covers it. Weird tasting diet coke and the best thing apart from the chandelier was the waitress who laughed when we asked for the bill."

Service

Pros:

  • "The staff are friendly, and make you feel welcome; there is no rush to leave."
  • "Service was initially really good and things looked good from the moment the starters arrived."
  • "The staff are so, so lovely and welcoming."
  • "The manager was excellent. I had mentioned my food allergies when I made the reservation and she had spoken to the chef and sorted a menu for me before I arrived."
  • "Service is always amazing, food tastes out of this world, relatively good pricing!"
  • "The staff couldn’t have been more friendly, helpful and accommodating."
  • "Service and food was excellent. I thought the portion sizes were good and not too expensive."
  • "We were made to feel relaxed and special. It's my no1 place to go for brunch, lunch or drinks."

Cons:

  • "Having been for drinks here a number of times, I was really looking forward to going for brunch, but it was so disappointing."
  • "The service was alright, forgetting knives, forgetting meals but always with a smile."
  • "It does get slow when it’s crowded."
  • "We did ask to speak to the manager but they didn’t ever turn up and we had to leave to catch a train so couldn’t be bothered to wait any longer."
  • "We enjoyed a wonderful lunch here today. I was a bit worried that it wouldn’t be child friendly but they had a great kids menu and the waiting staff were brilliant."
  • "My son booked the Wonderland room for a surprise birthday for my husband and it was so nice. Buffet was delicious and there was a lovely girl who ran the bar."
  • "Firstly, we waited as 4 individual staff members walked by us as we waited to be seated. None of them acknowledged us."
  • "Service wasn't great, our prebooked table wasn't ready when we arrived and we had to ask several times."

Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The sausages and hashbrowns are super tasty as are the sausages."
  • "I had apple cake strudel and was very sweet and fat, it has caramel, vanilla ice-cream."
  • "When it came, it was tasty, however there was perhaps only 5 grams of feta on my plate when the dish was supposed to be with mushroom and feta."
  • "A very nice place to grab a bite. Food is good, and the staff is friendly."
  • "The food is delicious and served quickly. The cocktails are so different and tasty."
  • "The lamb salad was tasty as was the bang bang cauliflower, and the garlic prawns."
  • "The food tasted good and they had a large selection for Vegans as well."
  • "The food looked small but it was delicious and it was filling. The bakewell tart cocktail really was special and tasted amazing."

Cons:

  • "The breakfast was ok but doesn’t quite match what the menu says."
  • "I had to check to see where the food was and there had been no indication that the food would take so long to be served."
  • "The starter was bad though, the beef croquettes where 2-4 bites at most with only 2 of them looking lonely on a plate."
  • "Considering it was the 2nd most expensive main it was quite frankly a rip off."
  • "My harrisa lamb shoulder came out luke warm which isnt very acceptable. I could tell that it had been sat for a while, pita bread slightly over done and was that awkward cold crispy."
  • "The food had good portion size, my wife and I had the tapas starters which came out pretty fast and for our main I had the Thai chicken green curry and my wife had the stuffed chicken which was really tender and not overcooked."
  • "Foods is generally cold, precooked and stale each time I've ordered. The coffee is usually near cold as well."
  • "Absolutely admissible Saturday lunch. Restaurant was busy as expected but out food took well over an hour to arrive for two main courses. By the time it did arrive it was cold."
