Food Quality

Pros:

  • "All types of dishes are cooked to a high standard."
  • "The food on this restaurant is absolutely top quality from the starters to the dessert."
  • "The mussels (starter) were very good and the sea bream (main) was cooked to perfection."
  • "The food was just absolutely delicious."
  • "The food here is exquisite so well prepared and tasty."
  • "Amazing food cooked to perfection."
  • "The food was diverse and tasty - everyone enjoyed very much."

Cons:

  • "We both had fish pie which tasted nice but not enough potato on top and the fish was more meaty as in a bit harder than fish should be and the sauce underneath was very runny."
  • "Both the starters and the mains we had were tiny. When you pay for a meal, you want a meal, not a snack."
  • "The menu has changed... Not as good as it was before lockdown."
  • "The food didn't have a good design and the herbs on my order were not fresh at all."
  • "Over half of the main courses weren't available. we all had chicken which arrived lukewarm and undercooked."
  • "The beef steak was quite tough with both, mine and my friend."
  • "Chicken tasteless and over cooked."

Service

Pros:

  • "Service is good with friendly and helpful staff."
  • "The staff were pleasant and efficient."
  • "The staff were all friendly and welcoming."
  • "The staff were incredibly polite, friendly, attentive and accommodating."
  • "Very good service."
  • "Staff made light conversation as well as being attentive."
  • "The waiting staff were all friendly, accommodating, and professional."

Cons:

  • "Good atmosphere with fine service, but would have expected service to be a little bit more attentive considering how quiet the restaurant was."
  • "Unbelievable food but service was a little rushed."
  • "Service: Again was mediocre with long waits between courses."
  • "Our waiter was rude!! Plain rude!"
  • "The service did lack. Staff seem very scared, like someone keeps yelling at them."
  • "They were a bit slow but I thought under staffed."
  • "The service was quite slow, however - despite there being 4 staff members and only a few tables to look after (the restaurant was very quiet), it took a while to get anyone’s attention."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "The fixed price menu was excellent value at £14.95 for 2 courses."
  • "Excellent value for money."
  • "Early bird menu is great value and definitely worth a visit."
  • "Both were delicious. The nicest food I've had in ages and excellent value for money."
  • "Lovely food...excellent wine reasonably priced for the city centre."
  • "£12 for 3 courses was always going to be a bargain, but it's not going to knock your socks off."
  • "Excellent set menu at a price reasonable for anyone."

Cons:

  • "Carlos who just replied 'oh sorry' and offered us nothing, he didn't even knock her coffee off the bill! Not impressed."
  • "They use this trick to over change you on wine."
  • "I was horrified to get a bill for £140. This price is comparable to The Ivy however, the food isn't."
  • "Value for money: The food was very average besides one excellent Sea Bream and the total cost was £65."
  • "Somehow, with only a couple of French Ciders each a three course meal cost around 140 pounds for two people."
  • "Pretty disappointing considering the price and other reviews."
  • "Marked down slightly however for the unmentioned 20% service charge for our rather standard group of four."

Ambiance and Decor

Pros:

  • "Quiet and very clean place."
  • "Nice surroundings and decor, it was fairly quiet so lacked a buzz but was still nice."
  • "Decor is classy chain-style, bright and simple."
  • "Comfortable interior, with plenty of personal space."
  • "It is beautiful inside and has a very attractive appearance."
  • "Provided a genuine French ambience and you might forgive yourself for thinking you were elsewhere."
  • "Great food in a restaurant with an atmosphere that starts off warm and friendly and adds more buzz as the day goes on without being overpowering."

Cons:

  • "The design of the restaurant was eye catching and the staff were welcoming and helpful. The glasses on the table had a bad smell."
  • "We did find the interior styling to be a bit dull and the lighting was slightly too dim."
  • "Ambience: A clapped out speaker beside reception spat out flat base thuds and some squeaky trebles with nothing else between."
  • "The poulet was dry and bitter, no other flavour or seasoning, just plain grilled."
  • "My only gripe was that some areas could do with a bit of a clean - the restaurant is older now so needs even more work to keep it looking good."
  • "It was quiet for a Sunday afternoon, with 4 or 5 tables being occupied."
  • "We went for dessert and I was showing my friend a clip on my phone (literally 10 sec snap) and as soon as I showed her, the waiter approached us and said people are complaining about us using the phone which was so rude and literally no one complained."
