Customer Service

Pros:

  • "Kristian the mechanic took the time to understand how urgent (front brake, dangerous!) was and ensure my brakes worked perfectly replacing both the pads and disc immediately."
  • "One month ago I went to the shop to have a quote for my cycle-to-work scheme certificate and a staff member (whose name I can't recall now) was so kind to help me with everything."
  • "Thank you to Nathan for his patience and great knowledge in taking the time to go through every helmet in the store until I found my perfect match!"
  • "The mechanic Kez was incredibly helpful and informative, not only fixing the issue at hand but also educating me about my bike in the process."
  • "I visited Evans and was assisted by Alfie, who was amazing. His goal was to ensure that I would have the right bike for me and was not to make a sale."
  • "When I went to the store, Tom was so kind, competent and keen to give me all the advice needed."
  • "Jeremy was so helpful and genuinely passionate about bikes/cycling - provided such a fantastic service!"

Cons:

  • "This is the worst bike shop I have ever encountered. Rude, unprofessional and totally unhelpful staff."
  • "Staff in this seem to demonstrate very poor knowledge of the products they are selling."
  • "Mechanics are unhappy, all want to quit and take out their frustration on customers."
  • "He could see I was waiting but was totally disinterested."
  • "The shop was pretty empty, and from the three people at the desk, nobody approached us to give us any support."
  • "Unfriendly, and unhelpful customer service every time I've been."
  • "I’ve been met with horribly rude employees who have spoken down to me."

Communication & Responsiveness

Pros:

  • "I'm surprised at the negative reviews. I was in the shop two years ago trying to get an inner tube to fit my wheel. I'd been everywhere to no avail. They were only available on amazon. The bike mechanic ordered and paid for them (2) and had them delivered to his home. I came back to the shop, paid, and waited while he fitted the inner tube to my bicycle."
  • "We're travelling from the US and my mother-in-law's rollator fell apart. I didn't bring my Allen key set with me but dropped into Evan's to see if they could help. The young man at the desk had it sorted simple as."
  • "Came there as a London tourist with a flat wheel in our daughters buggy (had no aur pump with me). They were super nice to pump up the wheel of the buggy without any charge! Very supportive and friendly people there !"

Cons:

  • "I found this branch very helpful when I went in but they are god awful at handling their emails and calls."
  • "I tried emailing them and calling them and no response."
  • "I finally get back through to be told they don't have the parts and don't know when they can get them, but they have not told me any of this until now."
  • "Customer service appallingly bad...No one EVER answers the phone. Order of 10 days is now 2 days overdue with no response as to when our bike will be delivered."
  • "Tried to call in advance but no one picked up."
  • "I have tried contacting the store by email and telephone with no response as well as Evans' Facebook customer service."
  • "Called a month later as I knew deliveries where being delayed due to Covid and no one answers the phone in store."

Technical Expertise & Work Quality

Pros:

  • "He did a quick service on my bike, free of charge, and the difference riding was insane."
  • "The work was done immediately and professionally without any charge."
  • "He also showed me the correct tyre pressure on my tyres (which in 40 years of cycling not one bike mechanic in any store has ever mentioned to me before)."
  • "Sometimes small faults can easily be resolved but it was especially nice that the initiative was taken in repairing my bike wheel."
  • "Great service from the workshop team! The head mechanic/workshop manager, Ferenc, graciously and kindly fixed my bike at very short notice, going out of his way to get it done same day and also luckily spotting and repairing more issues on the bike."
  • "Marcin very kindly (and very patiently) looked at the bike for me and quickly ascertained what the problem was, and he then quickly fixed it for me there and then on the spot."
  • "The mechanics were quick, friendly and did an excellent job."

Cons:

  • "For over 2 months now this store has held onto my bike for a warranty claim, with no evidence to suggest that the claim has ever been processed."
  • "Now i just have a faulty bike with no sign of being fixed."
  • "I would literally never buy anything from Evans again given the horrendous service and the absolute chaos which reigns in the work shop at Kings Cross."
  • "Bought a bike from Evans, long disorganised customer service. Bike took several weeks to arrive and had defects."
  • "I took my bike for a full revision/repair. I got it back with loose bolts and still a chain ring bent."
  • "The next level of shock was when I was sold a bicycle WITHOUT ANY PEDALS and was asked to buy these separately."
  • "Unfortunately there were no wheels available and he couldn't find a wheel or rim to suit my bike."
