Atmosphere & Decor

Pros:

  • "Lovely cellar restaurant, nice high quality decor with a comfortable timeless sort of feel."
  • "It's a really romantic setting and I love the 'hidden-away' aspect of eating here."
  • "The restaurant was a little tricky to find but this gave it a classic 'hidden gem' vibe that I love."
  • "The decor was like stepping back in time but this just added to the lovely warm atmosphere."
  • "This restaurant has a very good atmosphere."
  • "Perfect vibe! Nice decoration, very cosy if you looking somewhere out of the crowds to just relax and have a great dinner."
  • "Nice warm and chill decoration with nice selection of background music."

Cons:

  • "Only issue not related with food is access as it's in the basement and there is no lift for disabled."
  • "The decor was beautiful."
  • "Also decor was boring and music very random."
  • "Bit dated decor which I cannot decide I like for the retro factor of looking like my Nan's house in the 90s, or hate for looking my Nan's house in the 90s."
  • "No disabled access or even a bell outside on a more human note."
  • "Judging by the decor, I don't think much has changed during that period."
  • "Just found the tight booth seating area a little uncomfortable to sit and eat in."

Food Quality

Pros:

  • "All really tasty home cooked food, meat was very tender."
  • "The food is magnificent."
  • "Food was outstanding, couldn't fault it."
  • "The food was very good. I have been to both Armenia and Georgia before, and I was happy to discover that the taste and flavours were the same as 'over there'."
  • "The food here seems like genuine home cooked food - absolutely delicious and prepared with much care."
  • "Beautiful food, nice mixture of Armenian cuisine."
  • "The food was divine and the selection of Armenian wines etc interesting."

Cons:

  • "The food is mostly authentic but not always of best quality."
  • "The meat platter wasn't bad, however it seemed a bit overcooked."
  • "The food was definitely not freshly prepared and was probably frozen and then reheated."
  • "Portions are a joke for Armenian tradition."
  • "Unfortunately, my main wasn't on the same level. The stew was pretty average. Whilst hearty, it wasn't overly flavoursome and lacked seasoning."
  • "3 different dishes was looking disgusting!"
  • "The hot mix grill, lamb chops smelt funny not fresh and chicken pieces were not cooked thoroughly."

Service

Pros:

  • "The waiter was very helpful explaining the dishes, plenty of choice on the menu for vegetarians and fish eaters and probably vegans too."
  • "Staff were friendly giving us advice on the traditional way to eat Armenian food was a nice touch."
  • "They were also great with us changing our reservation and when a few of our group didn't turn up."
  • "The staff is attentive and the food is great."
  • "Absolutely 10 out of 10 the service was spot on, prices very reasonable."
  • "The service was also excellent."
  • "Staff were excellent and catered for our every need."

Cons:

  • "A bit disappointed as we had a booking for 13.30 on 18th September. When we got there it was closed. Nobody contacted us beforehand to cancel the booking."
  • "The waiting staff were very miserable and failed to ask us if we wanted a drink before taking food orders."
  • "Was chased by the owner for payment as I left although I had already paid."
  • "There is slow service too and you get very bored."
  • "In addition we found out there was a 12% service tax in the bill which we were not expecting."
  • "As we never pay a service charge I asked to not pay it. That was OK but I had the feeling it was very much frowned upon."
  • "Service was intimidating."
