Interior and Ambiance

Pros:

  • "Restaurant has beautiful interior, light, spacious, great view in the back garden of the trees."
  • "Nice building, nice staff, lovely breakfast and good restaurant."
  • "The building itself is wonderful."
  • "One of the best rooms we've stayed in for a long time. Huge room, bed and bathroom with pretty much everything you need for a relaxing stay."

Cons:

  • "The room itself was nearly very nice but was worn and a bit tired."
  • "Some road noise from passing cars but wasn't too bad."
  • "It was a shame that the loud bar music continued to midnight, which stopped us getting to sleep when we wanted."
  • "£187 for the night in room 5....no window view as all plastic sheets to stop you seeing the extractor fans from the kitchen...which were left on all night making the bed vibrate... didn't get to sleep till 5am... and awake at 7!"

Service

Pros:

  • "The staff were excellent on booking and arrival, able to facilitate an early check in at noon for a £20 fee."
  • "What really blew us away is the staff here."
  • "Staff were super friendly and attentive."
  • "Hannah went out of her way to be helpful from the moment I met with her and ensured that everything ran like clockwork."

Cons:

  • "The service was slow so you need to not be in a rush."
  • "Staff were not particularly attentive, and service after the mains was very slow with not a great attitude shown by our waitress."
  • "The 'manager' proceeds to interrogate us about how we arrived at our decision. Not a single apology and we were berated and spoken to aggressively for sticking by leaving."
  • "Updating this in light of a few poor visits over the last 6 months. Since first visiting this place around 3 years ago it has progressively gone down hill."

Food Quality

Pros:

  • "But the food was delicious. I went twice in one week."
  • "All of the food is delicious and we could tell how much pride and effort he and the kitchen team put into their work."
  • "One of the best rooms we've stayed in for a long time. Huge room, bed and bathroom with pretty much everything you need for a relaxing stay."
  • "Had an excellent dinner recently. Liked the food, ambience as well as the very courteous staff."

Cons:

  • "Food is average & overpriced for what it is. Drinks poorly maintained - coke flavourless."
  • "The food was bland and uninspiring, we had to reject the relish as it was so far out of date it was actually fizzy."
  • "Poor quality eggs, no color what so ever. Poached eggs raw inside and fried eggs annihilated in the pan."
  • "COELIACS AVOID! ...all tell-tale signs that she had consumed gluten."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "The food on the more expensive side but good quality food, nice portion size, good kids menu."
  • "We also got to meet the head chef and sample his wedding menu, what a mindblowing afternoon that was!"

Cons:

  • "Considering the price, this place seems to be presented as something it definitely isn't."
  • "It is sadly not the same anymore. The standard has significantly dropped and was way overpriced for the poor breakfast we had."
  • "For the extortionate price of £45 for 2 of us and a kids meal. I told the waitress and she basically said nothing and did nothing didn't care."
  • "The food is lovely but you’ll have to wait a while for it to come!"
