Golf Course

Pros:

  • "The golf course was in top condition with super smooth greens and lush fairways."
  • "Amazing quality golf course, very well prepared and challenging for all levels of player."
  • "The golf course was good."
  • "The massage was fantastic though, golf course was very well kept and of a good standard."
  • "The golf course itself was very enjoyable and well maintained."
  • "The golf course was in pretty good condition, considering the hot spell we'd had but the greens were immaculate!"
  • "Great golf course. Well tended and interesting."

Cons:

  • "The bunkers were really poor, unranked and some with grass growing in them."
  • "Didn't like the tee box on 17 going straight over the green on the 16th as we had a near miss with the group in front."
  • "The golf course is tough. Some of the greens were bumpy but OK."
  • "It is obvious what's happened here, the hotel has around 100 rooms which is about double the size of the Oxfordshire golf and hotel spa where we have stayed previously and you can tell they are simply allowing too many people on the course."

Rooms

Pros:

  • "The rooms were spacious, clean and quiet with lovely views over the golf course."
  • "The hotel had nice big modern rooms."
  • "The two rooms we booked were lovely and clean."
  • "The rooms were spotlessly clean and tidy and had all the usual bits you would expect from a modern hotel."
  • "The room was large, the little balcony was lovely overlooking the golf course, sun was out so sat out reading."
  • "Rooms were well furnished, clean and very comfortable."
  • "The room was very big and clean."

Cons:

  • "The first room we checked into was on the bottom floor of the blocks, which all smell strongly of urine."
  • "Upon entering the replacement room, we saw there was an UNDERWEAR hanging in the bathroom!"
  • "The new room smelt like a urinal cake, was full of beetles and was incredibly dated."
  • "Room’s were Dirty as there was no housekeeping unless it was requested."
  • "The room was superficially clean when we arrived but on close inspection was very poor."
  • "Unfortunately this hotel really let itself down for me... the room itself was nice however there was a terrible hole in one of the walls, soap dispenser was broken and the double bed was 2 singles joined together!"
  • "The room was a disaster at £146 was worth £60 at a push."

Staff and Service

Pros:

  • "The staff, especially Olivia, were extremely helpful in helping us make our day as special as possible."
  • "The staff were absolutely fine!! So many reviews saying about their lack of experience - They are all very young... the ones we interacted with were lovely and smiley."
  • "The staff were amazing, so helpful and attentive."
  • "Extremely friendly and helpful staff, more than happy to recommend and book restaurants, taxis etc."
  • "All staff were very friendly and polite and made our stay relaxing."
  • "Great staff with a positive attitude and smiles."
  • "The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble."

Cons:

  • "They weren't particularly welcoming. Really wanted to use some facilities but they closed at 8pm and I only arrived around 7pm, they also cost extra."
  • "The restaurant again is filthy, the staff are incompetent and unclean."
  • "The staff are rude and the manager refused to do anything about the fact that the ‘sofa bed’ was so hard that is was impossible to sleep on other than charge us for a new room."
  • "Then decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant which was a terrible mistake, the atmosphere for one is 0, it feels like a soup kitchen and the staff are not the most proactive people."
  • "They were all very nice, apart from a woman called KATY. Who near enough insulted everyone in the coach party."
  • "Every dinner was an absolute shambles. Not one member of staff had any idea what to do."
  • "The only down side was the pro shop. Staff were unhelpful and didn’t seem at all interested in us as a society."

Value and Facilities

Pros:

  • "Away for a night stay with two rounds of golf, breakfast and a two course dinner. Excellent value."
  • "Rooms, food and golf very good. Excellent value."
  • "The whole golf and hotel package was extremely good value for money and therefore is highly recommended by us all!"
  • "Spa facilities include a steam room, roof top hot tub and a sauna."
  • "Restaurant food was really good and Italian organic wine was worth the premium paid."
  • "Food and service good, well trained friendly staff."
  • "The spa treatment was good. Can't fault the treatment staff."

Cons:

  • "Barely any selection for breakfast."
  • "No food on offer throughout the day time (a pain after you’ve just finished your round of golf)."
  • "Have to pay £20 separately for what are very basic spa facilities."
  • "Buffet breakfast was nothing special and the restaurant area was uncomfortably hot."
  • "The spa was a joke for somewhere that sells itself as a 'Hotel and Spa' Very small, looked like a small hot tub, a small sauna and some chairs AND WAS NOT EVEN INCLUDED IN THE PRICE!"
  • "We booked this package as a spa hotel but we’re told it was extra £20 per day each to use the hot tub and sauna."
  • "I also feel after paying a lot of money having to pay for 3 hours of spa facilities for £20 pp is not ideal considering its a spa hotel and you can't pre book until the day."
