Cons:

  • "I'm not a negative person but the staff on the checkouts need to be a bit more welcoming...they where so miserable on two of my visits."
  • "Christmas decorations are amazing shame about the staff miserable on tills didn't smile or say hello or goodbye darn right rude shame as I like going each Yr to see the Christmas scenes etc they have ruined it for me."
  • "The staff were rude especially in the cafe."
  • "Having staff telling us we can't have a dog in the store when our dog has assistance lead... this made us feel horrible."
  • "Waited around half an hour in cafe to be served due to staff shortages."
  • "Staff were helpful but were sometimes unintentionally in the way when replenishing stock."

Christmas Displays

Pros:

  • "The Christmas section was great, the kids loved it, it was obvious a lot of time and effort had gone into that."
  • "Magical is the word to describe the garden centre at this time of year."
  • "Superb selection of Christmas decorations, all beautifully displayed in colour coordinated displays throughout the store."
  • "They do the place up amazingly at Christmas with wonderful displays and a small ice rink for everyone to enjoy."
  • "THE best place I have ever been for xmas decorations 😍 the displays where magical and the atmosphere was awesome."
  • "Another brilliant Christmas display set up by the whitehall team."
  • "The Christmas displays were fantastic and well put to together, each section was themed, with plenty of decorations to purchase."

Cons:

  • "Personally, a nightmare."
  • "It's also horrendously overpriced in comparison to the same products in other garden centres."
  • "The stuff this year was tatty and old!"
  • "It wasn't as done up this year as previously done, with large sections dedicated to purely one colour scheme."
  • "To be honest it's my idea of a Christmas nightmare but some people might love the immense selection of baubles, Christmas decorations and tableaux."
  • "The Christmas display was surprisingly wonderful, just a bit too many baubles hanging around."
  • "The only down size Christmas decorations were a bit pricey."

Facilities & Accessibility

Pros:

  • "This garden centre has a massive children's play area, sandpit, giant car park and restaurant."
  • "Genius having portable toilets by the entrance!"
  • "Pushchair and wheelchair friendly."
  • "Wheelchair access and toilets."
  • "Great improvement in access and Covid19 route around shop safely."
  • "Parking was good down in the overflow, but could do with being better lit."
  • "It would be 5 stars if more disabled parking spaces were available."

Cons:

  • "Very large queue right outside when we left blocking access for disabled people."
  • "Then at the car park there wasn't anywhere to leave the trolley or an easy path to get it to the car."
  • "Lots of slopes around the plant area and also in the indoor shopping area. Not particularly easy too push a wheelchair around some of the displays, a bit too narrow."
  • "The only struggle for us, was the amount of steep slopes. Being a wheelchair user, I found it quite difficult."
  • "Not been here before. Was surprised that disabled parking spaces were further from the entrance than some general ones and that for a garden centre of this size, there weren’t more. The site in general didn’t seem very disabled friendly as there are several slopes outside and inside."
  • "Couldn't find a parking space near the entrance for disabled passenger, and when we did, faced an argument and intimidation from another driver."
  • "Not the best place to visit with someone in a wheelchair."

Pricing & Value

Pros:

  • "Price's were really reasonable and some stuff on sale was crazy cheap!!"
  • "The prices for all of these items... not cheap, but certainly they are very fair prices."
  • "We bought some items which we would not usually have bought as everything was reduced to half price!"
  • "Also, some items are very reasonably priced, and others are randomly expensive."

Cons:

  • "Amazing (but hugely over priced) Christmas display, as always."
  • "It's not cheap, so if you want to indulge you can quickly max out that credit card here with not a huge amount to show for it."
  • "The variety of Christmas glass balls is huge. Very expensive decorations and extremely crowded place, and you are not able to see properly everything that you would like to see."
  • "I was in disbelief of the prices."
  • "Really disappointing to buy a light up globe Christmas ornament, purely because it was plugged in, to get home and discover there was no transformer to plug it in."
  • "Large post Christmas sale currently on. Lots of posters with 50% off, with the savings to be taken off at the till. So I selected two items marked at Β£18 each, assuming that they would be Β£9. They were in the decorations section and obviously Christmas items (Father Christmas and snowman door stops). Get to the till and they are FULL PRICE!"
  • "Generally expensive, particularly the food and groceries."

Product & Stock Variety

Pros:

  • "Fantastic Garden Centre! The range and quality of plants here is excellent."

Cons:

  • "The place was crazy busy over Christmas time, so there was massive queue for everything."

  • "Prices for items could be clearer and someone checking items are in correct locations throughout the day."
  • "The garden centre is a nice place to visit, enjoyed my day out, but when it came to the pet and aquatic centre it was another story, never seen a place keep there snakes and spider in tiny boxes."
  • "Went over the weekend and you couldn’t move from the amount of people."
  • "The only two things we struggled with were access with a trolly... and the lack of staff available to help."
