  • "The food was delicious, each course was beautifully presented and full of flavour."

Cons:

  • "Meals were very mediocre for premium price charged."
  • "Unfortunately the (very expensive) steak was not a good cut, way too much gristle (as agreed by the chef!) although perfectly cooked."
  • "The Lancashire Hotpot was minuscule and had nothing to do with Lancashire with barely any meat in it."
  • "String left on my meat, uncooked fondant potato, inedible cabbage, congealed gravy."
  • "Mushy peas cold, hotpot substandard from previous times, my daughter's rare steak was raw."
  • "The vegetarian thai green curry (which I tasted), that was very poor."
  • "Food was a bit disappointing - roast beef lunch."

Service

Pros:

  • "The Service was impeccable and the food was very good, however not good enough to reflect the price."
  • "Compliments to Nigel and his staff."

  • "Staff forgot about us and left us waiting over 30 minutes."
  • "The service didn't find our table and spent a couple of minutes rotating through the garden, we also had to ask for cutlery and basic condiments such as salt and pepper (which we never received)."
  • "Table service was terrible, glasses not cleared, Had to keep chasing to get drinks etc."
  • "Took a long time for plates to be cleared in-between courses and to get any more drinks."
  • "Was charged £22 on the bill for a bottle of wine we never had."

Ambiance

Pros:

  • "The place now has a lot fresher, cosier vibe."
  • "The whole experience from entering to leaving was the place was warm welcoming and relaxing."
  • "The restaurant looks fantastic and there is a drinks area for passerby clients."
  • "An amazing Sunday dinner which after looking at the mid-week menu is even better for their daily menu which changes daily to suit the fresh meat, fish and vegetables."
  • "The venue is stunning - the refurb has been done to a great standard."
  • "The setting is lovely, we were lucky to be seated in a cozy room with a stunning old open fire."
  • "It's a beautiful building with log fires and stone floors."

Cons:

  • "For somewhere that describes its interior as sumptuous, we didn't expect our table to be balanced by a bit of cardboard ripped off the side of a box!"
  • "The foot long spider Web hanging down from the light fitting above our table was most off putting."
  • "Then to add insult to injury the ladies toilets were in a poor state."
  • "The customer comes last, agreed to be on a charity pub walk then even though we were first 50 refused to serve us because of dinner service no apology no compromise no returning customers."

  • "Meals were very mediocre for premium price charged."
  • "It is an expensive night to eat out from the set menus and will therefore be reserved for special occasions."
  • "Overall lovely, but pricey! Glad we went but can't afford to go often!"
  • "The prices reflect the quality so if you are happy paying 20 quid for fast greasy food then the Three Fishes isn't for you but if you are looking for great local food done well in pleasant surroundings then you should not be disappointed."

Management

Pros:

  • "Manager and exec chef both recently replaced."
  • "Nigel Haworth and his team have done a wonderful job with the restaurant and vegetable garden."

Cons:

  • "Not the experience we expected from the Three Fishes, someone has definitely taken their eye off the ball."
  • "Seems to be new staff every time you visit."
