Shop Variety

Pros:

  • "I enjoy visiting the shopping centre cause there's a variety of shops, when I'm having a slow day I can get all I need in one day breakfast, slow shopping, lunch then home with all I need for the week or month, well worth the day out shopping."
  • "A pleasant shopping centre with a good mix of retail outlets and food and refreshment places."
  • "Great selection of shops. Clothes, phones, hardware, hairdressers, computer games, food, jewellery and more..."
  • "Nice little shopping centre, wide variety of shops."
  • "Love this place. No need to go into town centre when you have it all here. Restaurants, department stores, food stores, coffee shops, phone & clothes shops, etc, etc. Good parking, post office, restaurants nearby as well as an array of bus services and banks. Great place to shop. I love it !!!"
  • "The centre features a variety of shops, from well-known retailers like WHSmith and New Look, to independent stores offering unique items."
  • "Its got everything you need in one place a variety of shops, good prices and most of the staff friendly and helpful."

Cons:

  • "Rubbish...go there when needed.. hardly any good shops any more."
  • "Not bad for casual shopping not a great deal of choice a bit bland as a centre."
  • "The centre itself needs updating and shopping choice limited."
  • "The shopping centre could do with more mens shops. There is nothing here for men regarding clothes shopping."
  • "Crossgates centre doesn't have much choice now."
  • "Pretty poor selection of shops unfortunately. If it wasn't for Wilko's and Iceland there wouldn't really be any point in visiting here."
  • "One of the worst place to shop in, you have to pay for your parking and it doesn't feel safe at all looks like a run down shopping mall there's no decent shops at all."

Parking

Pros:

  • "The centre is clean and well-maintained, with plenty of parking available."
  • "Good old Crossgates Arndale. Still relevant. Pay for parking and plenty of structure round the back for spaces."
  • "It's ok. Clean. Easy parking on the doorstep. Some decent good value for money shops."
  • "Parking was available at a moderate price."
  • "If you want somewhere to shop on a sunday it's the place to go. Parking only 50p per hour on a sunday."
  • "Parking is ok and charges reasonable."
  • "Add to that good easy cheap parking and it is obvious why this shopping centre is going from strength to strength."

Cons:

  • "Think they have a cheek to charge for parking on a bank holiday considering not many shops were open."
  • "Parking charges discourage people visiting from outside the area."
  • "The center used to offer a free 15 minutes but it no longer does and I think this is a shame as sometimes you are only popping in for a few things and there isn't any local free parking unless you park 10 minutes walking distance away from the center."
  • "This place might as well be knocked down. Loads of empty shops and the shops that are left are pretty poor. Since Poundland opened its just become a really scruffy shopping centre. Parking is a rip off too."
  • "Left a star off as the car parking staff attached to the back are awful people. They show no understanding of common sense and cannot give valid answers to questions."
  • "Went to Crossgates Shopping Centre on Saturday with friends, after spending over £100 between us were charged £7 for 4 hours and 3 minutes parking. £1 per minute over the hour is a rip off, certainly won't be going again."
  • "Parking is a complete rip off here, shame for the small local business that the Arndales only goal is to raise revenue from parking."

Atmosphere & Cleanliness

Pros:

  • "Been coming here for many years.... been a lot of changes apart from the mirrored ceiling which always reminds me of my childhood :) can’t fault the shops or the staff."
  • "It's a lovely place to go shopping whether you need food or toys. You can get anything here. It's a lovely atmosphere especially at Christmas. Decorated lovely."
  • "The vast majority of shops have level access and wide entrances."
  • "The staff are always friendly and helpful, making the shopping experience that much more enjoyable."
  • "It's been some time since I've been here so I was pleasantly surprised to see that although some businesses had gone they had been replaced by others."
  • "The centre is always clean an tidy, always bright it can cheer most shoppers into staying a while."
  • "A clean place serving local community. Worth a visit."

Cons:

  • "What can I say about crossgates? Grim, dim, old fashioned, it's like been transported to the 70s."
  • "Just not the same as it once was. The clientele during the day look like extras from a mad max film and the centre is about as visually appealing as Chernobyl."
  • "Gone downhill..units closing.nothing in there, tatty shops, coffee shops, some ok, some rubbish."
  • "A dump with ridiculous prices to park on a pot hole covered car park."
  • "In reality it's a dreary, aged shopping precinct filled with charity shops and bargain basement style stores."
  • "Poor shopping centre. Shops inside are OK but facility is poor. Car parks always full. Parking machines work from time to time. Everything seems dirty and neglected."
  • "Totally gone down the pan in recent years. All the big stores have gone and there is no supermarket now."
