Venue Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "The grandeur of the ballroom is incredibly stunning and you can feel the uniqueness of the venue as soon as you enter the room."
  • "The ballroom looks like it came out of the history books and seeing it on the telly does it no justice at all."

  • "The ballroom itself was lovely, so special."

Cons:

  • "Beautiful Historic ballroom, I can see why people love it, but it looks a bit grubby and tired if you're being honest and the toilets stink."
  • "Although watching the same dancers perform did get quite monotonous and an hour was more than enough."
  • "Not at all disabled friendly. We were visiting the tower balloon with a friend on crutches, following a recent accident and fracture."
  • "The refreshment kiosk was really slow we waited over 40 minutes just for coffees, poor girls were running around only 2 of them serving over a 100 people."
  • "Not enough staff can't use cash even for a cup of coffee, stairs to ladies toilets from the ballroom the smell is disgusting."

Dance and Music Experience

Pros:

  • "I love how families and children are encouraged to have a dance on the floor alongside seasoned dancers."
  • "Listening to the organs and watching the dancers."
  • "To see young people in modern clothes trying to copy elderly people doing ballroom dancing was so special."
  • "It was so nice to be able to just sit and enjoy the music (on the wherlitzer etc)."
  • "The Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ has got to be heard in the hands of this truly magical musician!"
  • "Was Beautiful just to sit and experience the different dances and the relaxing music been played live on that organ."
  • "I like how they had dance teachers showing you how to do dances every now and again."
  • "Enjoyed watching the dancing made up from all standards. They even gave a training session for anyone to join in."

Cons:

  • "Organists only seemed to know a handfull of sequence dances, even then they played the same ones."
  • "Don’t think they realise how boring it is to have the same dances all afternoon."
  • "Tea a little on the weak side. As a person who cannot dance, a little more of the directed country dancing would be good."
  • "Was a good experience to go and do but queue took too long in my opinion to go up to the top of the tower."
