Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The Meat and veg were delicious."
  • "Really good carvery. Often, carveries can be mushy and overcooked, but this was spot on, with 4 choices of meat and done very well."
  • "They even had gluten free cauliflower cheese and gravy!"
  • "Roast gammon was seriously tasty and they had all the trimmings to go with it (help yourself to the trimmings)."
  • "Had a great hot tasty carvery. Really good selection of vegetables."
  • "Carvery itself was well presented and tasted good."
  • "Food was delicious, staff were friendly and polite, great selection on menu, also reasonably priced."

Cons:

  • "Very disappointed, extremely long wait for our meals (2 hours), some meals not cooked properly twice."
  • "After waiting for the carvery, we were very disappointed, none of the vegetables had been cooked fresh all re-heated, couldn’t even bite into the veg as it was awful."
  • "The ones of us who ordered a burger was disgusted to find the burgers swimming in blood, the burger buns were soggy as they had soaked up blood also."
  • "Turkey was bland, they had ran out of Gammon, at 6pm on a Sunday, and the veg was all dry and tasteless."
  • "Carvery was very poor quality of food. Meat were ok, but the vegetables were left under a hot lamp in water which continued to over cook them."
  • "The sprouts were overcooked and the gravy was very thick and lumpy."
  • "£15 for the worst carvery, everything about it was terrible. Manky meat, all veg turns to paste, nasty gravy, raw crumble."

  • "Service was slow behind the bar with a queue and only one person serving!"
  • "One specific member of their bar staff, whose name I didn't catch but had a 'kiss' tattoo on his neck, displayed a significant level of rudeness."
  • "The service was unbelievably slow/non-existent."
  • "Ridiculously slow service. Child’s meal came out and the adults were left another 45mins after asking twice when could we go and get our food."

Ambiance and Decor

Pros:

  • "Lovely interior and surroundings, warm welcome with good food at good prices."

  • "The decor was very good."

Cons:

  • "I was wary of the slightly shabby outside... inside no problems."
  • "Place could do with a lick of paint to brighten it up."
  • "Was looking very tired, but a recent refurb has left it looking good inside, if a little dark."
  • "Such a huge disappointment, after the much awaited refurb. Play area that so desperately needed updating has not been touched."
  • "The area by the soft play is run down and dirty."
  • "The outside seating area to the side is a bit small and not really relaxing as the main road is quite close."
  • "The food was mediocre - not too bad to complain about but not good enough to enjoy, for example, the crackling we got was half chewy half over cooked."

Accessibility and Facilities

Pros:

  • "Great for kids with both indoor & outdoor play areas."
  • "What truly stood out was the indoor playground for kids, providing a family-friendly atmosphere."

Cons:

  • "The only little mention as well would be the toilets as you come in are not geared for disabled at all and no visible signs."
  • "The food was great, but toilets were not very Accessible as I'm somebody who is in a wheelchair some of the time."
  • "Very cold as we were seated right next to the door, taking into mind we had toddlers and babies with us and it was next to the soft play!"
  • "Do not visit if you have children under age 3! The soft play is not safe for them!"
  • "The nappy bin in the disabled toilet clearly hadn't been emptied as the smell was lingering around the pub."
  • "Baby's not welcome! We were a table of ten with a baby... I felt very unwelcome and all the service staff looked grumpy."
  • "The toilets could do with some maintenance and ideally updating."
