Customer Service

Pros:

  • "Brilliant customer service, went in on Saturday to buy some tools to fix our bed and both Alan and Rob were very helpful in cutting a piece of wood and showing us which would be the best drill to buy."
  • "Staff are always very helpful, being such a large store it is not always easy to find what you are after, but just ask one of the staff and they'll either take you to the product or direct it right to it."
  • "I would like to give a huge thank you to Dave who helped my partner and me choose some kitchen tiles today."
  • "Staff were all very helpful."
  • "Can I just say that Rachel was absolutely amazing at sorting out an online order that got messed up."
  • "Very helpful staff, we found everything that we needed n it was reasonably priced."
  • "Just come from B&Q and had the most excellent customer service from Peter, our handle broke on our paint and he helped us with getting paint off our selves and cleaning the car park, making an extra fuss to make sure it wasnt on our clothes, shoes or car, he was an absolute super star, and really is a credit to the B&Q store."

Cons:

  • "Travelled a long way to shop in this store only to come away empty handed."
  • "The young lady was of no help as fence was painted!"
  • "B & Q Derriford Plymouth: staff not very helpful and the majority of times, items are out of stock. When you ask when items will be back in stock, there seems to be the standard reply 'I have no idea'."
  • "Poor customer service from an uninterested employee."
  • "Staff customer service was not the best experience. Got sent from pillar to post with one member of staff actually saying another was a liar."
  • "I popped into the store with my Mother yesterday evening... He was no help whatsoever."
  • "Rude, unhelpful and unfriendly female staff member supervising the checkouts."

Store Layout & Stock

Pros:

  • "Great DIY superstore. Garden supplies, electrical and home furnishings also."
  • "Plenty of stock and well laid out, I found everything I was looking for."
  • "Very well stocked."
  • "Massive store spotless needed something for my kitchen sink found it in seconds."
  • "Good selection of products in store at reasonable prices even if equivalent products can sometimes be found cheaper elsewhere but sometimes it is nice to see and buy straight away."
  • "Massive range, good products, displayed well."
  • "Just about anything you could ever wish for, all under one roof."

Cons:

  • "Expensive and poor stock availability. Garden centre looks like a plant grave yard."
  • "Store is large and great for some things but over priced."
  • "Stuff quite close to what you need but just not exact."
  • "Considering this place is monstrously big, it's surprisingly hard to find anything you actually need."
  • "It's a very large DIY store. Doesn't sell corner shelves and trying to find a staff member is a hassle as when you want one there is no one around."
  • "Shelves are pretty bare in some sections every time I go in."
  • "Didn't have basic roofing batons, when asked when there would be new stock in, the member of staff looked on his hand held computer and said he had no idea.....??? Wasted trip!!!"

Online Shopping & Delivery

Pros:

  • "Ordered online and paid for the item. Got a text and email an hour later to say it was ready to collect."
  • "Very easy when using click and collect service, I have only used click and collect but every time it has been convenient and quick to get whatever I need."

Cons:

  • "I ordered some flooring, stayed at home for the delivery which never happened."
  • "Ordered online and paid for the item. Got a text and email an hour later to say it was ready to collect. When I got there I was told that they did not have it and it was out of stock, when it was showing 3 in stock online. Will never order from B&Q online ever again. Very bad service."
  • "I ordered a kitchen in October and I still do not have the complete order these people will gladly take your money and promise you the earth and then literally laugh up their sleeves at you."
  • "The online ordering system they have to operate is obviously broken."
  • "Where are my fence panels? I have waited ALL day for delivery."
  • "Placed order online and was coming from this store failed to be delivered on date they said and reschedule for following Monday didn't show up after promised it would, failed to call back after several phone calls to them absolute menace to cancel the order after I said I don't want it anymore wont order online again with them."
  • "Diabolical service. After checking and placing a £140 click and collect order, received confirmation. Arrived to be told it wasn't ready."

Facilities & Accessibility

Pros:

  • "Easy access from the main road, ample parking."
  • "Good COVID-19 systems in place."
  • "Inside there are toilets and a coffee shop, or outside there is a pizza hut and KFC."

  • "This is a great DIY store located in northern Plymouth. There is a ginormous free car park outside, with disabled parking spaces."
  • "The car park is absolutely massive but please watch out for the aggressive speed bumps."
  • "Parking is good."

Cons:

  • "The toilets were also pretty gross, puddles all over the floor and no working hand driers."
  • "Massive store spotless needed something for my kitchen sink found it in seconds, was disappointed the cafe was gone and the toilets are a nightmare but that's due to covid not B&Q fault restrictions and the location if the toilets do make things complicated not good if your desperate or have a problem."
  • "The way the car park is designed and how you get back onto the main road can definitely be a pain."
  • "The large carpark has plenty of room even during peak however the entrance and exit is catastrophic."
  • "The awful access from the Tavistock Road knocks a point off from a customer perspective before you even get to the store."
  • "I can’t even enter the car park because it’s flooded."
  • "I am disabled and I was very upset with the staff who refused to help me take my purchase to my car quoting covid 19 as the reason."
