  • "Very typical Edinburgh pub in that it has loads of atmosphere, (even during these covid restricted times!)"

Cons:

  • "Pretty standard range of drinks. Interior and atmosphere are nice but it's a bit soulless."
  • "All hard wooden surfaces, lots of noise bounce, can get very loud without being full."
  • "Traditional modern doing its best to look 19th century or Edwardian which is a difficult task to pull off."

Service

Pros:

  • "The staff were amazing - helpful in getting more seats when our group was larger than anticipated, very quick service and great food."
  • "Service is excellent as well."

  • "Great visit to Edinburgh and good looking pub…however the food quality was sub standard, no kids menu and staff not overly welcoming."
  • "Staff very helpful and friendly and great beer and food."
  • "The staff disinfected surfaces well and all wore face masks, drinks were all garnished well and service was impeccable."

Cons:

  • "There was a small issue which was made bigger by a very defensive waitress who wanted to talk more than listen."
  • "Worst lunch ever... Paid full price even after complaint, so service non existent."
  • "We were having a nice time having some beers, but we noticed the staff being very rude to some other customers who accidentally spilled some beer."
  • "Will definitely not recommend due to poor service."
  • "OK food but absolutely rubbish service. We waited over half an hour for our server to come back to take our dessert order but she was nowhere to be found."
  • "Sadly, me and my family didn’t get to visit this establishment after being rejected by the bar staff / door man."

  • "Great fresh pub food... Fresh food cooked well."

Cons:

  • "Mozarella sandwich was one fat chunk of massive cheese, brie bacon was awful and covered with sea of chili sauce."
  • "Cheesebord is a joke £20 for cheapest cheese and stinks."
  • "Burger was dreadful. Burger is precooked and they do NOT use a good quality meat."
  • "Mediocre food, £15 for a burger which is very steep for Edinburgh."
  • "We went in and it was very quiet! We ordered a starter to share and then 2 mains. We waited over an hour for food... It was cold, dry and I would have been better with a microwave meal!"
