Service and Staff

Pros:

  • "The staff were fabulous, efficient and completely unflappable!"
  • "This time I had a different person taking the order but still fantastic service."
  • "Service was bob on."
  • "Amazing down to earth staff and amazing quality food!"
  • "We were greeted on arrival and shown to a table where the guy spent some time going through the menu with us."
  • "The staff were super attentive, welcoming and friendly."
  • "Incredible hosts who knew exactly when to chat, what to say and when to leave you alone."
  • "The staff were also very friendly and felt so welcome!"

Cons:

  • "Foods great, vibes good, only recommendation is the service difference from the owner (Great and could tell really cared) to the initial contact was a bit blunt, unwelcoming."
  • "Called them about it and they just told me 'you should've double checked'."
  • "Trash food over priced, ribs and chicken were cold not to mention I payed £5 for 2 chicken wings and 2 ribs that hardly had any meat on and we're covered in way too much sauce, milkshakes were ok and that's all, delivery driver was not polite at all."
  • "Lovely place to work but the girl who runs it is so morngy, as u can see from the screenshots just because I disagreed with something she took my job away from me, she claims she as no hours for me but the day before she employed a new starter, she took my job away out of spite."

Food Quality and Taste

Pros:

  • "Do come hungry… portions are generous and delicious!"
  • "The food was absolutely delicious and the recommendation for fries was spot on."
  • "The food was out of this world."
  • "Bear Kitchen's burgers and fries are the best no doubt!"
  • "Absolutely lives up to the hype! Everything was perfectly cooked and super tasty."
  • "Easily the best burgers I've had."
  • "The flavour was brilliant, the food was meh though, dry bread and dry burgers, fries arrived cold and were also dry."
  • "The Gluten Free menu is full and expansive."

Cons:

  • "However my burger patty was a little bit on the dry side for my tastes."
  • "Burger was a disappointment for me the patty inside was over cooked and a little tough."
  • "Ordered the Mac and cheese burger and the poutine. Both were exceptional."
  • "The food was amazing and the staff are amazing too. A big thank you for the quick service as we was limited on time and popped in on our meal break."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "Food was of good quality and price which is a factor nowadays wasn’t bad."
  • "Inexpensive too, and definitely value for money!"
  • "The prices were very reasonable!"
  • "Coffee and tea were especially good value at £1.50 each."

Cons:

  • "It's a 4 from me, because of the patty and the price. £44 for two burgers with fries and two cans of pop is a bit steep really."
  • "Ordered the Mac and cheese burger and the poutine. Both were exceptional. The basic burger isn't expensive but you can add lots of different things. The cost goes up but it's amazing food - you pay for quality."
  • "If I could give 6 stars, I would. Definitely the best place in Wakefield. It’s cosy, the food is great. They have lots of options, the vegetarian burgers are so yummy. If you crave burgers, this is the place! The staff is absolutely lovely, they are always polite and cheerful. And the music they play on the background adds to a great experience. We drive from Leeds just to eat here :)"
  • "This is my favourite to eat, the food is amazing, the staff is wonderful and portions are bigger for it's cheap price. Its great for groups or if you want to take out, one person can have a meat lovers dish while someone else can have vegetarian or vegan. Even the desserts and drinks are fantastic in my opinion. Definitely go on a weekly basis"

Ambiance and Atmosphere

Pros:

  • "Really nice strong filter coffee was a change from the chains."
  • "Well, the interior is deceiving, rustic and very clean."
  • "Googled somewhere to have a nice breakfast in Wakefield and we ended up here. Absolute gem of a find, the vibe of the place is amazing."
  • "There's so much to choose from and we all wanted to eat everything."
  • "The atmosphere and staff are really quirky (in a great way!) and very friendly and helpful."
  • "The menu is huge (possibly too big!) and everything we have tried always exceeds expectations."
  • "I was feeling very low so a friend came and took me out for dinner to Bear Kitchen. The initial impression is deceiving (run down and tatty), but that's the idea."
  • "Not been for a while. And its come back with a bang. New dining area better than ever, really nice vibe to the place."

Cons:

  • "Parking is problematic and if you want to eat in its going to be a gamble as to if you can get a table because there’s only 3."
  • "My recent visits to Bears kitchen have left me thoroughly impressed and satisfied. The combination of their delectable burgers and top-notch service has made it one of my favorite dining spots in town."
  • "While I was at School, Mummy and Bradley went to Bear Kitchen they had an amazing experience of trying new foods and Mummy brought me some chips and BBQ sauce while I was at School. They had an amazing day at Bear Kitchen"
  • "Really dont understand the hype around this place. We may have just visited on an off day. I had a chicken burger, it was ok but the chicken was overcooked and not very meaty, the batter also kind of smelt like fish and chips. My partner had a beef and chicken burger, he said his chicken was like mine and his beef burger was a bit flavourless. The prices are also ridiculous for what you get, we ordered 2 burgers, no sides and 1 can of water and it came to £17. I definitely would try it again if we were in the area and needed something to eat but I would not go out of my way just to come back here."
