"Food here is of a high standard except for baked potatoes which we have had pre cooked and stale."
Cons:
"Service was abysmal to non existent, no cutlery (we had to ask) food cold and tasteless."
"The place is nice, beautiful decorations but the food is terrible, we ordered sirloin steak medium and came super dry and even hard to cut, and half roasted chicken which stinks like raw chicken πππ disappointing."
"NO MORE GUINNESS GOLDEN ALE FOR SALE, IT WAS THE BEST BEER THEY SOLD. AS FOR THE FOOD IT'S ALWAYS DRIPPING IN EXCESS OIL WHEN ORDERING ANY FRIED MEAL ESPECIALLY FISH & THEIR POPPADOMS ARE NEVER DRAINED FROM OIL PROPERLY."
"Breakfast arrived without the correct amount of bread advertised and no tomato?"
"Just come for Lunch with my mum here ordered a soup and fries... was told because a party of 12 come in in beetween she could not order a bowl of soup."
"The initial reviews said it was good food, but other than the excellent mushroom soup we were very disappointed!"

"Lovely Sunday roast with family (9 in total). Excellent friendly and attentive customer service."
Cons:
"Stood at the bar for 5 minutes being ignored by all the staff, served eventually by a very surly manager, not for the first time. Will not go again, what ever happened to customer service."
"Not sure why we had such poor service as people were coming in after us and being served their main courses within 15 minutes."
"I found the staff very rude Trying to rush a table of 15."
"How can a restaurant/bar refuse entry to someone who is 23 years old. Doesnβt state anywhere thatβs itβs over 25s only."
"we went for a family meal on tuesday evening, certain staff members were rude, our drinks took over half an hour to be brought to our table."
"Service was very slow--the servers were pleasant, but our food took over an hour and a half to reach us after we ordered."
"Pint was ok when I eventually got served then went back to order food I might aswell have spoken in German because the waitress who took my order decided she knew better than me as to what my wife wanted charged me extra for the privilege brought some of it out when it was ready and waited for me to go back to the bar and ask for the rest will not be eating here again!!"
Ambiance and Location
Pros:
"A great pub with atmosphere. Good prices for a city centre pub too."
"However, the food here is good, the atmosphere is buoyant, they have live music and it's a great pub."
"Great venue with excellent location."
"The Potters have become a lovely pub over the years, the prices for drinks is good and it has, recently revamped the roof which can be accessed via the stairs."
"Lovely little place and a great vibe even when it's pretty empty during the week."
"Central location, reasonable prices, good food and popular with the locals. A lovely raised beer garden overlooking the river adds a really nice touch."
"Always enjoy coming here whenever we're in Newport. Especially love the roof terrace!"
Cons:
"Sunday was the second time we were stopped using the Potters as a pub. We were told if we have not booked a table the only available, was to get a pint at the bar and go upstairs. We walked out! Is the potters a still a pub???"
"One thing to note though. When I was here last week I only realised they don't let you in with a hat."
"The only downside was the trek to the toilet. We went through a private party to climb two flights of stairs."
"Docked a star off because we went in there on a Sunday, don't expect a seat, all the tables have 'RESERVED' on them."
"We visited at 4pm on a Thursday and it was very loud inside."
"Went for lunch last Saturday, the good was good, but it was far too noisy for us. We couldn't hear ourselves and to have a conversation was almost impossible."
"The only downside to this place is the rooftop bar. You have to go to the downstairs bar to order a drink and then carry it back up the stairs to the roof!"
