  • "Incredibly tasty, ample portions and top quality."
  • "The food is delicious and exquisite, difficult to point out which ones I liked the most as all were spectacular!"
  • "Quite simply some of the best food we have ever tasted."
  • "The steak for two looked great but tasted a bit tough to me, especially considering the price."
  • "Unfortunately the fish was sold out. Sirloin only available for 2 and best served rare and one of us didn't like rare."

Cons:

  • "Good food but not life changing, but still really good."
  • "Sides were pretty good, although some were okay, most likely because I’m not used to the cuisine."
  • "The mackerel appetizer was ok, not great."
  • "Unfortunately my husband found a small hair in the cabbage which was a side dish."
  • "The food was very good quite a small selection."
  • "Only negative note is the sharing lamb..£50 it’s slightly too much for what is really a 1 person portion of lamb with no sides."
  • "Unfortunately a lower review than id thought I'd give. Steak was okay - tho no preference on how you'd like it cooked."
  • "Dinner looked the part but sadly the steak was really chewy and nothing special at all. Have had better cuts of meat from Lidl!"

Service

Pros:

  • "The service was great, had a gent who's only been there for 2 weeks and he was brilliant, so polite and pleasant!"
  • "Service was incredible. Very attentive host/waitstaff, gave really good recommendations."
  • "The service was brilliant, in particular Kitty, who was excellent. So friendly and soon point."
  • "All the staff especially Sara and Adam were incredibly friendly gave us lots of time to decide and had extensive knowledge of their menu."
  • "We were a party of 10 so had to go with a set menu. Quality of everything that was served was excellent."
  • "Service was attentive, atmosphere was buisy. Their seamed to be some tension between some of the staff and from the absence of the maitre d I'm not surprised."
  • "Had a fabulous evening here from start to finish, warm welcome on arrival coats placed in cloak room show to table drinks arrived promptly very informative explanation of the menu."

Cons:

  • "We were disappointed not to receive at least an apology, and we had not requested money off our bill either which was not cheap."
  • "Reception staff are amazing but we wished the serving waiter could be more attentive."
  • "Unfortunately the staff and management mainly spent the time chatting loudly behind the bar. Had to walk over twice to get service."
  • "Their seamed to be some tension between some of the staff and from the absence of the maitre d I'm not surprised."

Ambiance and Location

Pros:

  • "An absolutely fantastic Spanish restaurant. Great food, great service and a lovely ambiance."
  • "Smack bang in the middle of the city centre."
  • "If you're ever in Cardiff, book a table. It is rather special."
  • "The restaurant is a mix of Spanish and Welsh cuisine."
  • "The front of house were amazing......thank you to all the staff at Asador...we will definitely return."

Cons:

  • "Frustrating they were filming for their website when we went there. It was a special occasion and we had a bright film light, wires, camera man and baggage everywhere."
  • "The only remaining table is unfortunately a really small and is at a dark place - so make sure you reserve a place!"
  • "We ordered 4 different starters and sides and they were scanty portions too! Really expensive for the quantity of food.. We paid 90£ for two persons and yet left hungry."
  • "Nice place, just be careful and ask what things cost. You don't get much meat from a big rib so if you are looking for good value for money this is not the place to go."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "Absolutely amazing experience. The food was incredible - easily the best steak I have had."
  • "A great dining experience in Cardiff. Very well prepared and tasty food."
  • "Amazing sharing Sunday lunch. Lamb shoulder with meat that fell off the bone."
  • "We spent a memorable 3 hours here and the price was extremely reasonable given the quality of food and service!"

Cons:

  • "It is pricey for what it is, but it was still very tasty!"
  • "I found this restaurant to be somewhat overpriced for Cardiff but worth a visit nevertheless."
  • "Quite expensive, but for a special occasion and the quality of the food and service it's absolutely worth it."
  • "Somewhat aggressively priced but worth it for an escape from the chains that seem to dominate the area."
  • "Unfortunately didn't meet the basic standards of food. To start I found all the prices very high for the size of the dish."
