  • "The staff were so caring, they kept me informed throughout the day of test and treatment carried out on my old dog."
  • "The vet who saw my cat Merlin was amazing I can't remember her name was polish I believe but her skill is incredible to be able to get him weighed examined his mouth and get everything done in a fast and appropriate manner."
  • "Absolutely amazing staff! I am eligible for low cost vet care if it weren't for the outstanding job the ladies & gents that work at the pdsa my dog would not have been seen for a while."

Cons:

  • "The only difficult experience I encountered was during the pandemic (social distancing was still in place, which I totally appreciate) when I was not able to hold my beloved Peggy during her final journey."
  • "Big joke this place can't get thought on the phone and demand money off people would not use again."
  • "Not knowable enough on small animal."
  • "The vet i saw was extremely rude to me, unwilling to help as she didn't agree with breeding."
  • "To be honest this is the worst experience I've had with the leeds department, the lady on the desk with glasses on and dark hair is absolutely rude and should not be aloud to be a receptionist."
  • "Didn't listen to a word I said which resulted in a nurse being badly bitten."
  • "The vet was demeaning and abrasive."

Accessibility and Convenience

Pros:

  • "Spotlessly Clean, fully accessible for wheelchair users, friendly welcoming staff, plenty of space to manoeuvre."
  • "If you are on public transport, its just a 10 minute bus journey from the city centre."
  • "Easy to get to, just after Paws for Thought's on York Road. Free parking."

Cons:

  • "Pain in the butt getting an appointment and considering it's supposed to be a charity with a 'pay if you can afford it' scheme but they make it so you're forced to donate unless you want humiliating in front of everyone by the receptionist."
  • "Horrible experience, never going again. 50 minutes late to be seen."
  • "The waiting time to make appointments is absolutely ridiculous! I've spent 1 day ringing and not getting through."
  • "Had to drive to place to make an appointment then sat waiting 1 hour past my app time."
  • "It's also just a shame it's so far away, even from the train station. So taxis were obviously seriously expensive."
  • "Nightmare trying to get through to them on the phone though."
  • "32 times so far today I have rung and the furthest I have got is being on hold while it rings for 11mins 32seconds then got cut off."

Cost and Financial Policy

Pros:

  • "These do a good job to say they are very busy and over stretched plus they charge so little."
  • "They ask for a small donation usually ask to pay 25% if you can but if you cannot a donation is fine."
  • "They sorted out my cats tail had she bn run over and needed removing paid 200 pounds and my private vet wanted 600 pounds."
  • "We don't qualify for free treatment but it was still a lot less than we would usually pay."
  • "Better than private vets as they are more interested in the welfare of the pets than how much money they can get they also do very affordable insurance and will treat working peoples pet's as well as people who are on benefits."

Cons:

  • "It really irritated me seeing people turning up there, seemingly not short of cash, yet they couldn't even be bothered to donate a mere £1 for their dogs vaccinating/ worming etc!"
  • "Disgusting, these places are supposed to be here to help when help is needed, I have a sick dog, who will be put down today at a Vetinary surgery, the pdsa refuse to see her as she is a pedigree."
  • "Very annoyed, I have supported the PDSA for 50 years & never needed to ask for any help from you, when I rang about bringing my dog for treatment I was told I couldn't as I lived outside the area, & there is no PDSA in the York area, I will definitely never give to your charity again as I believe anybody in need should be able to get treatment not just a privileged few in certain area's."
  • "Absolutely disgusted with the place they only help people on benefits but not people in a low income."
  • "Disgusting!! They refused to treat my cat because they had forgot to inform me I now needed photographic I'd."
  • "Would not let me even talk to the vet without paying £20 then I had to pay more money for my pets medication."
  • "Free vet service for all kinds of domestic pet's. But only if you're receiving housing benefit."
