Facilities

Pros:

• "The facilities, shower and toilet blocks were amazing for everyone, children and dogs included. Spotlessly clean."
• "Pizza nights and a fish and chip van on a Wednesday if you don't fancy cooking."

• "Sadly my daughter and I went for our showers about seven at night and the water was freezing even after you had it on for awhile."
• "Showers are a spin holding them In all the time which makes getting a one handed shower sometimes a bit difficult and they are maybe a bit too powerful for younger kids to use."
• "The distance from the camping field to the toilet, got a bit tiring having to walk to visit the loo, a set of porta loos could help."

Location

Pros:

• "25 minutes to Scarborough, 15 minutes to Eden camp ish."
• "Well away from major roads so blissfully quiet at night."
• "If you have a car the location is superb but if just a motorhome bus stop about 1 mile away to either Pickering/ Helmsley one direction or Scarborough the other direction."
• "Well placed for days out to the coast etc."
• "Site itself is perfect for trips into Pickering and to the East Coast."
• "Well located for Scarborough, Filey, Pickering and all the pretty surrounding villages and countryside."
• "Great Location for access to the coast or Flamingo Land."

Cons:

• "No local walks. Was going to walk to the local villages but no footpaths."
• "No pub or restaurant within walking distance. The nearest pub is a lengthy walk away and was never open."
• "Location wise, nearest pub is at least a half hour walk, 5 to 10 mins in car, Cayley arms which is very good."
• "It would be even better if there was a cycle lane or footpath on the main road to Thornton Le Dale."
• "5 minute drive away from The Providence Inn or Cayley Arms which both serve food when you fancy eating out."
• "Small shop with not much stock, had to go to a supermarket 20 minutes drive away to get food and necessities."

Cons:

• "Cafe was shut Tues and Wednesday which was when we stayed."
• "The cafe is only open till 2pm could do with been open a little longer."
• "Little bit disappointed with the opening times of the cafe as would like to have seen it open everyday."
• "Being put in the middle of the field without being told on booking and other tents quite close so could be quite noisy."
• "Also having some 'Doggy Parking Spaces' - as a single parent with a child and dog, it would be handy to have more dog lead ring ties around to secure the dog whilst using the ablutions."
• "Pitches could be a little bigger and it's a little expensive."
• "Did not understand why additional payment was required for porch awning as no additional space was needed."

Accommodation and Pitches

Pros:

• "More than ample room for caravan / Awning and car pitch side."
• "The campsite was immaculate, This site is one of the best we have stayed at and we have toured extensively around Europe as well as the UK."
• "Pitches were big enough but not huge and we’re pretty much all flat."
• "The pitches are a generous size and the grounds around site are well maintained."

Cons:

• "There are no hedges or boundaries between the pitches which makes them feel a little too close together as there was no real privacy."
• "Sadly the cafe is only open Thurs - Sun, which meant it was closed while we were there and it was quite a distance to the toilet block from the pitch compared to other sites we have stayed at."
• "That tents could pitch anywhere once the marked out pitches were full, this meant we lost the nice open space in the middle of the field where the children had been playing together."
• "The hard standing pitches must have kryptonite under an inch of gravel as we bent 10 'heavy duty' pegs."
• "Hard standing is like concrete and extremely difficult to hammer in rock pegs."
• "Shower block closes 11-1pm (not all closed at once or for the full amount of time) but hard to predict when it would be closed or for how long."
• "Some campers ignore rules about open fires, number of cars per pitch and dogs on leads."

Activities and Entertainment

Pros:

• "Kids playground in the centre as well with lots of things to play on, café (dog friendly) next door to playground."
• "The play area was a bit hit, would come back again!"

• "The park is great for the kids with a football pitch at the entrance of the site!"
• "Loads of space for tents, well maintained grass pitches."

• "No fire pits allowed, or even keeping BBQ lit after you’ve finished cooking."
