Seating Comfort

Pros:

  • "It's massive, cosy sofas, acres of leg room."
  • "All four screens offer giant comfy seats or sofas though a couple are more intimate which feels like you're having a private screening."
  • "Comfy massive reclining seats, with auto lift foot rest."
  • "The reclining sofas and armchairs in the first class lounge are wonderfully comfortable."
  • "Very comfortable reclining seating."
  • "Seats are comfy."
  • "Every seat is a sofa, or a reclining chair, and some tickets come with a little tub of Pringles and water."

Cons:

  • "We were sitting so far back in the cinema the view wasn't great, and the sound was very poor."
  • "If there's any downside, I'd say the toilets aren't great, and only 2 girls cubicles for a 4 screen cinema is not enough."
  • "Beware if going on your own, especially in the first class where, if single, you'll be treated as a second class citizen."
  • "Last Saturday evening we experienced a cool draught while we were enjoying the film 'The Greatest Showman'."
  • "The seats where comfortable and there wasn't anywhere where you would have trouble seeing the screen. However the screen was tiny in comparison to places like ocean terminal and the sound wasn't as good either."
  • "Comfy seats however once reclined, tables are out of reach."
  • "The men's toilets in the Foyer... are in an awful and unhygenic state."

Staff and Service

Pros:

  • "Staff were brilliant."
  • "Table service is excellent."
  • "Staff were very pleasant and attentive."
  • "The staff are cheery and welcoming — personality goes a long way."
  • "The staff, whilst few in number, are very helpful and polite."
  • "Staff are attentive, and you've the option of taking beer and wine into the cinema along with the staples such as popcorn."
  • "All the staff, every one of them, meet, greet, seat and serve at the very highest of standards."

Cons:

  • "I then reported it to a male foreign supervisor who came in to cinema four and disturbed the audience, - and did nothing."
  • "We arrive at the cinema and you had no food available despite it being advertised."
  • "I reported it to a male young Usher but nothing happened."
  • "At no point this evening did anyone take ownership of the problem, handing me off to each other member of staff, or offer to let me buy what I wanted from them."
  • "The extremely rude man at the desk said he will not give us an exchange and we just lose the voucher amount."
  • "There’s no staff around to tell them to shut it. So myself and other people had to deal with it ourselves."
  • "At no point did anyone come and check everything was ok."

Value and Experience

Pros:

  • "It’s a great experience to share with friends or as a couple."

  • "Once you've been to the Dominion you will never want to go to another cinema in Edinburgh."
  • "Absolutely love this place! Hardly more expensive than an odeon / film house or whatever and so much more of an experience!"
  • "This really is the best cinema experience I’ve had in Edinburgh. It’s posh, comfortable, and feels like a different class of cinema."
  • "A truly wonderful experience here. The art deco design gives this cinema a quaint nostalgia while hosting modern touches."
  • "It's the best movie going experience I've ever had and we will certainly be back and booking again."

Cons:

  • "It might not have all the big films in, or a wide selection of films."
  • "The price of refreshments sold in the cinema are ridiculously expensive."
  • "Cinema four was cold."
  • "The screens are a bit small, and the small room can definitely feel a bit cramped and crowded on a popular night."
  • "Lost £23.30. I Made a mistake with the online booking, phoned up immediately to correct it and I got a flat 'tickets are non-transferrable'. No offer to help, not possible to re-book. Money in their pocket. Scandalous."
  • "Also such fancy sofas that don't even have a headstand."
  • "A very disappointing return to this cinema who came very far from delivering their advertised 'First Class' experience."
