  • "The Horn has changed it’s bacon, it used to be streaky but I got back bacon, it’s not as salty but still tastes fantastic."
  • "The food was excellent but overpriced, however its like a service stop so it's to be expected, had bacon and sausage was a good size and tasty."

Cons:

  • "If I could give it a minus star then that would be more appropriate, no change out of a tenner for a breakfast that was absolutely revolting."
  • "The food was abysmal, the cakes were definitely not fresh they were at least a day old."
  • "The veg was clearly tinned and was still swimming in juice from the tin, the macaroni was stodgy and flavourless, and the chips were the greasiest I'd ever come across."
  • "Food was poor. I had gammon steak. Accompanying veg was inedible."
  • "Food was really not great, I had a chicken curry which had a very bland, watery sauce."
  • "The once great bacon roll is now nothing but rubbery bacon which is 70% fat."
  • "The bacon didn't taste like bacon and was deep fried, and the roll was like cardboard."

Cons:

  • "Kinda shocked that both times the last couple months I've went here the same older woman working the til has made remarks towards myself (and a friend) being transgender, which is just strange and uncomfortable in all honesty!"
  • "Rubbish, staff torn faced, coffee like dish water, no nice atmosphere and quite unclean, windows manky, give it a miss."
  • "Served by a young lass with a very bad attitude."
  • "The staff serving must be about 15 or 16. Very poor service."
  • "Staff not very friendly, and turn there back on you when trying to get served."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "The amount of bacon you get on a roll I unbelievably huge, well worth the price, as are the other rolls."
  • "If you can eat 2 bacon butties that's you fed for a week. Amazing food, fast service and a very accessible place to eat. Well worth a visit during your m90 journey."
  • "Candy floss, and new York cheesecake ice cream, I'm upset I can't rate higher than 5 stars. Literally the best I've ever had, would absolutely recommend."
  • "Got take out ice cream which was delicious and reasonably priced."
  • "Very good value for money too."
  • "Looks very basic but is fantastic for comfort food snack. Reasonable prices."
  • "Fantastic breakfast this morning at the horn milk bar, Lorne sausage and fried egg roll 2 slices of Lorne, also had a bacon roll 6 thick rashers of bacon on it, had an Americano also, just over a tenner great value for money in my opinion."

Cons:

  • "However, we have become older and disabled over the last 25 years and now we find access difficult."
  • "Our 4 rolls, 4 cakes and 4 drinks came to £27.30."
  • "The price of food which I thought was too much for what's on offer."
  • "Ordered pie, beans and gravy. Waited ages on my food, when it arrived the beans were cold and the pie was horrible."
  • "Everything is way overpriced."
  • "Also overpriced for the quality."
  • "It was a shame as it wasn't I would consider good value. £9.50."

Atmosphere & Cleanliness

Pros:

  • "Local television crews have recently been filming at The Horn, calling it a Scottish Icon!"
  • "The place itself is vintage. Whether the vibe is deliberate or it's just not been decorated since the sixties, is difficult to tell, but it creates a very unique ambience which would be a big shame to lose if it ever does undergo renovations."
  • "A throw back to the 70s and 80s, this place has not changed a bit since I was a child. A nice bit of nostalgia."
  • "Staff is great, atmosphere is American roadside diner."
  • "A nice cafe just off the A90. Very much reminds me of old fashioned greasy spoon cafes of old but lovely atmosphere and warm welcome from staff."
  • "Clean and tidy inside."
  • "It's like going back in time, but the quirky and dated aesthetics of the place doesn't bring down the quality of the food."

Cons:

  • "No proper car parking with marked spaces, ancient ramp and steps that fail to meet standards, front door that is not accessible."
  • "Absolutely disgusting - urine soaked floors, male toilets are repulsive."
  • "The place is bit exactly the cleanest."
  • "Dark, dingy, dirty place."
  • "A diner area which was littered with tables still to be cleaned and smelling of used chip oil."
  • "Main issue is cleanliness. Its never been a fine dining establishment and you wouldn't expect it to be being a roadside cafe, but on the last visit the cutlery had dried on food remnants so had to search through the forks and knifes to find clean ones. The toilets stunk and could be best described as grubby and disgusting."
  • "This establishment is hands-down the dirtiest, most disgusting place I have ever visited."

Accessibility

Pros:

  • "Easy to access and plenty of parking."
  • "Though it's an older café, there is a ramp at the front and accessibility is fairly good."
  • "Nicely run cafe, good covid protection."

Cons:

  • "However, we have become older and disabled over the last 25 years and now we find access difficult."
  • "No proper car parking with marked spaces, ancient ramp and steps that fail to meet standards, front door that is not accessible."
  • "No track & trace happening. Left as it became very overcrowded, no distanced seating happening."
  • "There are no dedicated disabled spaces outside, the ramp is rough and ready and if people don't take care when parking, can be awkward to access."
  • "The floor was filthy and didn’t look like it had been cleaned. Food droppings and crumbs everywhere!"
  • "Also, the cutlery looked like it hadn't been washed since the place opened."
  • "The gent's toilet is what you would expect 20 to 30 years ago."
