Location

Pros:

  • "The hotel is ideally located on the road to the Glencoe sites (three sisters etc…)."
  • "The location is great."
  • "The location of this hotel is perfect for exploring the highlands and has easy access given the loch side location for walking around the loch which in itself is a delightful walk."
  • "Loch Leven hotel. We chose this hotel for its location on the loch and as a central location from which we could explore some nice hiking trails."
  • "Location by Loch Leven was a lovely experience and the serenity was very welcoming."
  • "Location is beautiful, you have a very nice view."
  • "Great place in a hard-to-book, world class location at the foot of Glen Coe, and just south of Fort William and the Ben Nevis range."

Cons:

  • "This hotel seems to rely on its location to do the job over quality and service."
  • "However the hotel nor pods offer great views, only from the dining area offering a stream of loch Leven, and round the back way from the pods of parts of mountains, the views are not worth the money."
  • "Very disappointed that this hotel did not do justice to it's fabulous location, especially when your view is the kitchen aircon vent and a shabby courtyard."

Food

Pros:

  • "Food was beyond our expectations and could not be faulted."
  • "The food in particular is brilliant, comes in generous portions."
  • "The food was exceptional and very well presented."
  • "The meals are absolutely delicious."
  • "Food was wonderful. I ordered the fish in batter while my sisters ordered the venison and rump steak."
  • "The food here is excellent. Good choice, well cooked and presented. Good service from friendly people."
  • "The dinner was really good, freshly prepared and plenty for the hungry."

Cons:

  • "Dinner at the restaurant was good bit not great (had the pork belly)."
  • "The soup came with a film on it. Clearly microwaved."
  • "Food was over priced and very average."
  • "The food is completely tasteless and not seasoned well, if you are going to charge £16-£18 for a dish, make it good."
  • "The hotel food was unimaginative, at best mediocre and overpriced, I had soggy haddock and chips while my partner had overcooked chicken supreme."
  • "Sadly the food was of the same quality as the rest of the hotel."
  • "The dinner menu was very expensive, £19 for fish and chips!"

Staff

Pros:

  • "Staff were nice, and we were initially amused by their confusion and lack of basics, such as drinks menus, cutlery, odd communication, however by the end of the meal it was wearing thin."
  • "Staff is very friendly and the bar is great."
  • "Honestly couldn't give a higher review for this place. All the staff we spoke to were wonderful."
  • "The staff were great, they were very kind and helpful."
  • "Everyone was friendly and accommodating."
  • "The staff were fantastic, friendly and extremely knowledgeable."
  • "All the staff were really helpful at all times and we really appreciated their service."

Cons:

  • "She should not be in a position where she has direct contact with clients as she is trashing and destroying the hotels’ reputation."
  • "Hospitality - tremendously bad. I had first-hand experience to see it leads from, their manager, Tracey."
  • "Wont be back and don't recommend this hotel to anyone, better off tent camping than having to deal with staffs’ passive aggressiveness."
  • "Despite being 'pet friendly' the staff seemed generally a bit miffed that we’d actually brought one with us."
  • "Uncommunicative and uninterested staff, when we asked for a sticky dining table top to be cleaned we were told 'it’s just the type of paint..it was wood!'"
  • "The Duty Manager was rude, unsympathetic, deceitful and is totally unsuited for the hospitality industry."
  • "Not even been yet and already very dissapointed with the poor customer service my parents have recieved."

  • "Room very clean and comfortable."
  • "Very comfortable and clean room."
  • "The rooms are very comfortable and warm. I slept very well on the bed."
  • "Room was nice, view was lovely."

Cons:

  • "For £110 per night excluding breakfast I expect the place to be at least clean and comfortable, it was neither."
  • "£164.70 ( excluding breakfast ) I would say this is not a 4 star hotel.. the rooms are tired, stains on the carpet."
  • "We booked a cheaper option, 'budget room' for two. Still, we weren’t prepared for the rooms poor condition."
  • "The bedroom was in a bad state of repair with ceiling paper hanging loose, grime on the skirting board and mould in the bathroom due to the leaking shower."
  • "The pod is not designed well. The heating is in the floors and isn't evenly spread with freezing patches."
  • "The room felt like a portakabin with cheap furniture and fittings."
  • "Both our rooms were in dire need of renovations."
