Atmosphere & Location

Pros:

  • "The Dove's riverside terrace, you are not just sitting in any old local – you are a part of London’s rich history."
  • "Very Old small English pub with fine views of the River Thames."
  • "A fantastic outside terrace (with 'hidden' mezzanine) overlooking a gorgeous stretch of the metropolitan Thames."
  • "Lovely pub right on the river Thames with fabulous views."
  • "The vibe of the place is so amazing that u fall in love with it."
  • "A lovely pub, you can sit outside right beside the river."
  • "Perfect on a sunny day."

Cons:

  • "Space wise, just a bit cramped, when raining, making it impossible to not hear a guy at the next table being pretentious and condescending to his date."
  • "A nice little pub on the river, menu is a little short but still very good. Outside seating area is lovely but a little too small for those warm summer evenings, it fills up quickly!"
  • "Small & a bit cramped inside."
  • "Table situated at the back of the pub in a drafty and cold glass box, sandwiched between ladies and gents toilets."
  • "It's supposed to be a pub but it's predominantly a restaurant with not a lot of space for just socialising and drinking."
  • "Now I emphasize the small, it's definitely not a big pub and gets full rather quickly, in the space of an hour we witnessed a couple of people being turned away due to lack of space outside."
  • "There is an outside terrace but it's very prone to the vagaries of our weather and winds off the Thames."

Service

Pros:

  • "The staff are always really on point."
  • "We were served a tasty and crispy Fish&Chips by a friendly and attentive waiter."
  • "Attentive staff."
  • "Staff were friendly and welcoming."
  • "The staff is extremely friendly and convivial."
  • "Very cozy pub with great staff and food choices."
  • "The staff are attentive and truly care for their customers."

Cons:

  • "What I dislike the most is the way they throw you out at bang-on closing time, to the minute."
  • "The staff were not particularly helpful nor very happy."
  • "Our servers were nice but inattentive."
  • "Staff (at least the one I had contact with) was not overly welcoming but not hostile - just there."
  • "Bar was completely full of glasses. No one there to serve."
  • "Once inside, you bang your head on the bar, wait 20 minutes to be served, usually the beer is flat."
  • "Staff there treated us like we were an inconvenience."

Food & Drink

Pros:

  • "The beer is standard Fullers, but brewed no more than a mile distant, so excellent still."
  • "The food was excellent, and the service was very good as well."
  • "The food is great, can highly recommend their Fish & Chips."
  • "The beefburgers was the best burger I've had in a very long time."
  • "The sea-bass and the harissa chicken were lovely and well-seasoned."
  • "The food looked like it had come from a Michelin star chef and tasted like it too!"
  • "Food fabulous, try the Ratatouille with halloumi, best ever."

Cons:

  • "Unfortunately the bread that came with a platter was not fresh which was disappointing."
  • "Haven’t been in years, and was disappointed that a pub so close to the Fuller’s brewery couldn’t provide a good pint of Pride."
  • "Vegetables were overcooked and even burnt."
  • "Fish (of fish and chips fame) was battered too much with uncooked batter on the inside."
  • "The food wasn't as good as they claim and those who ate fish and chips got a stomachache."
  • "The fried squid, was not edible."
  • "The food I ordered was one of the worst food I ever had."

Value

Pros:

  • "The burger was also very reasonably priced."
  • "Although the beer is a decent price for the area."
  • "Directly on the river with reasonably priced drinks. What more could you want in the summer?"
  • "Take a look on the Brewery website as we found a 20% discount."

Cons:

  • "Nice looking pub but absolutely shocking prices. Paid £17.35 for a beer and a glass of wine."
  • "Really nice historic pub but, oh my goodness, the food is awful."
  • "However, £4.90 for a bottle of Peroni is VERY rich."
  • "But beware if you decide to drink here be sure to have a healthy bank balance. Because their prices are ASTRONOMICAL!!!!!."
  • "Unfortunately, prices are not justified with respect to the taste & service."
