Ambiance and Setting

Pros:

  • "Wow what a lovely little place, it completely took me by surprise."
  • "This is a treasure of a place, great place to sit and just be."
  • "Beautiful Yurt which creates a serene environment on the edge and hustle and bustle of Limehouse."
  • "Yurt cafe is a lovely cafe with lots of indoor and outdoor space, definitely worth visiting when in the area."
  • "A lovely little retreat off the busy commercial road."
  • "Unusual coffee shop and eatery. Set in gardens with gazebos and reflection areas."
  • "A quiet and cosy getaway, makes you forget you are in the middle of the city!"

Cons:

  • "However if it is very hot weather, be prepared to sit outside as inside it gets like an oven."
  • "I gave it a harsh 3 stars as the access/setting out of the interior could truly be thought out better and the exterior a little more inviting."
  • "A cosy place with reasonable coffee. I went to the venue on a hot day, and though it was nice, the heat inside the yurt was intense."
  • "Came to see a friend's art exhibition. It was a very hot day and the shaded area was very busy. Inside was very stuffy although there was an air-conditioning unit in the ordering area of the first yurt."
  • "Although I really like the warm decor... I felt completely uncomfortable about staying there for any length of time."
  • "Only drawback is nearby rail line."
  • "Very limited choice for children. Unfortunately there was some dog excrement near one of the outside tables."

Food and Drink

Pros:

  • "One of the most delicious breakfast places we visited so far!"
  • "Awesome and unique spot for coffee and homemade cake."
  • "Their bread is great - particularly enjoyed the Sour Rye."
  • "Mine came with smashed avocado and the other half got bacon. Both had a tasty bubble and squeak portion and both types of sausages very super tasty."
  • "Really great food, good quality ingredients and large portions."
  • "The food is great specially the banana bread, so delicious with its homemade yogurt."
  • "Incredible breakfast and large selection of pastries and treats."

Cons:

  • "Good space, shame the food is about one step above school dinners, and about four times the price."
  • "Lady behind the counter tried to fob me off with the excuse that the chef did not have a pan with which to scramble eggs."
  • "also £3 for a coffee is very expensive for what is a rather unremarkable drink."
  • "Not sure what all the fuss is about. Stale bread and bland salad and mash avo..."
  • "Such a shame that the regular barista is so patronising and rude- sadly this is a recurrent theme in this cafe."
  • "Extremely Overrated. Cherry pie lacked Flavour and had a gelatin-like consistency."
  • "Unfortunately, bad coffee served, pastries weren't fresh."

Service and Staff

Pros:

  • "Exceptional service! Staff are very friendly."
  • "Lovely staff and vibe. Highly recommended!"
  • "Happy and friendly staff :)"
  • "The staff was welcoming and friendly, they even offered a bowl of water for our dog, which was so nice of them."
  • "The staff were so friendly and helpful from start to finish. Helping me with the setup and throughout the evening."
  • "Nice coffee served by pleasant staff."
  • "Staff are absolutely lovely and the atmosphere is warm and cosy!"

Cons:

  • "The lady on the till during the London Marathon at around 1.30pm could do with a course in customer service skills."
  • "Just annoying that some staff don’t wear their masks!!"
  • "Original concept, good/healthy/trendy food, cosy place, brunch on weekends, tables outdoor, kids friendly...but poor service: ordered a hot chocolate for me, the waitress dropped half of it on baby, didn't replace it, barely apologized and had a good laugh..."
  • "Sadly the staff were so rude that the entire experience became uncomfortable. After being incredibly rude to us, they then served us the wrong coffee."
  • "The waitress tried to argue with me, saying 'they've lost your ticket. You probably didn't pay for your food. Or you didnt order inside'."
  • "Popped in today and although one member of staff was nice (bordering on overbearing) the others were curt."
  • "Staff weren’t very friendly and also weren’t helpful."

Community and Events

Pros:

  • "You can also find out what is happening in the community, whether it is gardening, knitting or a local community choir."
  • "A real asset to the community. We need to support this!"
  • "What a great sense of community spirit, I can’t wait to attend one of their many events!"
  • "An amazing hub and all the years I've known the area this was hidden to me for a long time until I discovered it, many events for all and great atmosphere."
  • "Events and a beautiful community vibe."
  • "Great place with activities and dogs friendly."
  • "Have been here for coffee, brunch, dinner and drinks & they have regular free music nights."

Cons:

  • "Actively discouraging people from 'taking up space' and 'appearing intimidating to others(!)'"
  • "1 star goes to management who are unfortunately not friendly, if you show up with a laptop indoors."
  • "The only feedback we would have is that, like Husk, during the weekends it opens at 10AM which is a bit late sometime to take your breakfast."
  • "Very limited choice for children. Unfortunately there was some dog excrement near one of the outside tables."
  • "Would also be great if they had a policy of 1 person not taking up a 4 person table, especially at peak times."
  • "Gender neutral toilets clean but the door of the disabled toilet would not close."
  • "For your information, yurts originated among nomadic groups in the steppes of central Asia... It’s really misleading calling your venue a 'Mongolian tent cafe sourcing seasonal produce and presenting a range of live entertainments.' when the 'Yurt' is not even a Mongolian word."
