Food Quality

  • "The Caponata was absolutely delicious and I could have kissed the chef for the fantastic polenta chips!! AMAZING!!"
  • "The braised beef and mash potato was excellent and cooked to perfection."

Cons:

  • "I thought it was a shame that a chef who could bring us the flavours and quality of a dish like this, could only be bothered to offer 'cheese and chutney' as the single solitary vegetarian sandwich."
  • "The meals themselves ranged from acceptable to awful."
  • "We had to wait over 30 minutes for a cheese board that had been thrown together so poorly."
  • "The pork roast did not have crackling."
  • "Food is mediocre and the helpings were too large which we found off putting."
  • "The beef, which was supposed to be locally reared, had the appearance and taste of reheated machine sliced sandwich beef."
  • "Unfortunately the leek and potato soup was very bland."

Service

  • "The manager and his team couldn't do enough to help, always very polite making time to chat."

Cons:

  • "The service was dreadful - despite our being the first (and, for a while, the only) diners, it took 45 minutes for the food to arrive."
  • "We had to ask for tartare sauce as they forgot it on our fish finger sandwiches."
  • "Patrons drinking at the bar were extremely loud which was off putting and made it difficult for us to enjoy our meal."
  • "The table we sat at hadn't been cleaned."
  • "Food service was a little slower than expected."
  • "Sat waiting outside for 20 mins, decided to go in to see if anyone was going to serve us, sat waited another 10 mins."
  • "Our food was terrible. Steaks were mainly fat, a terrible cut of meat for £20!"

  • "The bar was empty but the lounge was busy."
  • "However we were told we couldn't have a table but could find a seat in the garden for drinks only."
  • "The steak was majority fat and not edible meat."
  • "The atmosphere wasn't the best and a bit dreary."
