Customer Service

Pros:

  • "The staff are so friendly and very helpful."
  • "Shopped and then used the cafe for breakfast. Great device under pressure, all staff on hand helping clear tables and give food out well done Pontefract. Special mention for a young man Josh Tucker, smiling and being very polite and apologizing to customers."
  • "Had the most delightful shopping experience this morning in Morrisons at Pontefract. Staff are so helpful and polite."
  • "Went in for a cup of tea and a scone when I got to where you pay and asked the lady if it was possible to have some proper milk instead of the cartons, I have a condition and can't have the one in cartons, she explained that normally they don't give the fresh milk to customers, but went out her way to help and got me some, thankyou Sam it was a lovely cup of tea and thanks to you had fresh milk."
  • "Only called in to feed my grandson and grab a coffee. Cafe was clean and tidy. They had a corner set for people with babies with bottle warming facilities, staff were absolutely lovely and the coffee was good."
  • "With covid we was unable to book into a restaurant at the time needed so my brother's wedding reception was held last minute at Morrisons. They really did bend over backwards even gave the bride and groom champagne and flowers and also offered us all free cake's."
  • "JOSH MY LITTLE FLOWER LOL... for a bloke who's never done that before and a MANAGER, wow he made a cracking job."

Cons:

  • "Terrible, the cafe staff are undertrained, and lacking any common sense. The service is slow, the food is ok, but cold. Not using them again."
  • "We spent a lot of money here on Thursday, the check out operator did not look at us or acknowledge us in any way, all she cared about was going on her break, she was so rude."
  • "Don't bother. Never anything on their shelves. If you ask a member of staff a question they either do an obvious sigh or point anywhere rather than take you."
  • "Just come out of the store, my girlfriend was served on the hot food counter and the woman serving didn’t move onto the next customer before even giving me chance to state what I wanted despite me having said that I wanted something, she was also somewhat rude to my girlfriend when serving her."
  • "The staff in the cafe have horrible attitudes and they are very rude."
  • "Unfortunately the staff I spoke to for help and advice (at the customer service desk and a supervisor on the shop floor), were totally lacking in customer service skills."
  • "staff stand staring at disabled people struggling instead of asking if they need help."

Store Layout & Accessibility

Pros:

  • "Good disabled parking and good access to the shop."
  • "All new look and plenty of self checkouts."
  • "Especially like the 'free from' section."
  • "Love the shop, products etc."
  • "Very good at maintaining social distancing and keeping people safe!"
  • "Good for getting weekly shopping, also as good cafe as well, the parking is pay and display but a refund is given at the cash out on paying for your goods."
  • "Most of the tills are now automated."

Cons:

  • "Car park was very busy and quite narrow spaces, had to hunt for a basket, dozens of shoppers without masks or lanyards and a layout that frankly makes no sense."
  • "Parking getting out of hand people Parking and going into town to work not shopping needs to be back to pay and display or anpr with 2 hour limit."
  • "Very few people adhered to the social distancing rules and there was no social distancing enforcement by Morrisons staff."
  • "Security doesn't matter who it is always on phone texting as you go in store, aisles of food but you can never find staff to help and the trolley situation is you usually have to go find your own trolleys as they are never in entrance."
  • "A very disappointing visit we will not go again Items not priced, couldn't find half what we wanted after wandering round and round the store just bought what we could find came out."
  • "It felt too busy; many of the shelves were half bare; 5 tills open with people queuing 10 deep to get served."
  • "Cluttered aisles again with pallets and cages left on aisles for staff to replenish shelves much better shopping experience when there was a night shift and not a twilight fill."

Product Quality & Availability

Pros:

  • "Had everything I needed and have a great way of dividing shoppers into small and large shops so that more people can be served."
  • "Love the fresh produce here, just been modernised. Has a good cafe and facilities and checkout is always quick."
  • "I come here every week to do my big food shop. Pleasant and helpful staff, and a good range of food that fulfills all sorts of needs."
  • "Always good produce here. I use it mainly for fresh produce, but they also stock a good variety of items, including DIY and electrical."
  • "Great place to shop, good selection of food & none food items, also clothes. Cafe very good with great selection of sandwiches etc & hot food & buns/cakes."
  • "A typical example of a large Morrisons supermarket. Well stocked and well-manned checkouts help the shopping experience."
  • "Morrisons has achieved that illusive balance, of presenting goods in a way reminiscent of high street shops of yesteryear, yet has the range of goods and modern efficiency that today's shoppers demand."

Cons:

  • "Never hardly anything on shelves, if there is, you need to check dates."
  • "Horrible horrible place not like it used to be at all half of the shelves are empty and staff are not very helpful then you get outside and you're watching everyone you just do not feel safe at all."
  • "Been to Morrisons Pontefract today the checkouts were not organized people queuing everywhere."
  • "Terrible place. The only place in ponte that keeps running out of bags, put offers on but always run out of product they're offering."
  • "Staff are always nice we shop here every week but it's the produce that's gone downhill just this last Sunday we went I picked up a punnet of raspberries and there was literally green fur growing on them."
  • "It is a very good store and I would give it five stars if it were not for the fact that there are often run down shelves, therefore not always having everything I need."
  • "One of the worst morrisons I've ever been to."
