Customer Service
Pros:
"Helpful staff, very friendly and polite."
"Massive shout out to Dave the assistant Manager! What fantastic customer service!"
"Props to the lady in the paint department who sorted us with Delicate Blue though, she sorted us with paint like half an hour before closing and actually chased after us to help."
"Called in today to look at kitchen ideas for our new house. Meet a member of staff called Barry who was extremely helpful."
"Staff were really helpful as I had to return some products, I was in and got what I wanted in 10 minutes."
"Wonderfully friendly staff. From phone enquiries to purchase all the personnel provided a first class service...with a smile."
"Staff (Tony from gardening) went above and beyond. Searched out an item i couldn't get in Leeds,Doncaster,Sheffield or Barrow in furness. He put the item in click and collect for us to pick up. Amazing fella. Well impressed overall."
Cons:
"Staff very RUDE and items priced wrong on the shelf... overcharged at tills."
"Zero customer service. Ordered items online and never collected as I cancelled the order but they still took my money."
"A staff member eventually arrived after almost 10 minutes to inform us 'everyone's busy and we have no plumber in today, so I can only tell you where things are and not give any advice'."
"One was so openly hostile it stopped me asking anyone else questions since she walked away scowling & speaking so brisk that she was way past rudeness & happily comfortable in contempt."
"Bad experience with Chris from the wardrobe department very rude & no customer skills & not very helpful."
"Staff were very unhelpful. Needed a lift into back of pickup with a bbq. Understand these are trying times but was told no."
"Terrible customer service with male staff that treat a female like she's an idiot!"
Store Experience
Pros:
"Always find what I'm looking for here."
"Very well organised. Staff very friendly and helpful. Quite a few things with a discount on. Good value for money."
"Essentially one of the most comprehensive DIY stores in the UK."
"B&Q provides quality where the cheaper DIY stores don't."
"Probably one of the bigger b&q stores in the area and has a great selection of tools and other diy accessories."
"The shop is huge with an extensive range."
"Fabulous variety of everything you need for all your diy'ing needs... their home furnishings section is good too."
Cons:
"Before we went the 35 miles I phoned customer services to double check the 10% OAP discount was available on a Wednesday I was told 'yes', at the checkout I was told 'no'."
"It's also a real nuisance that panels of wood are so restricted in size."
"All in order in terms of sales however was made to feel stupid as the store had no facility for contactless payments!"
"Wasted journey as usual, supposed to be trying to attract trade customers but stock is always poor."
"After checking online for stock levels on an impossibly slow internet site, travelled 35miles to find an empty shelf, then on asking for help to be told 'We don't have any in stock' no offer of help to find one, no sorry!"
"Wallpaper collection is pretty dismal same patterns as 2 years ago. Signage is poor."
"Lights on display and priced at £20 get to the til it's £22. Then for staff to blame customers for moving the prices when it's up on a wall, then to say it's £22 I can leave it if I want."
Product & Stock
Pros:
"Went to B&Q and bought a toilet seat which you could feel was of sturdy quality."
"Very friendly and helpful staff who patiently explained all options regarding tiling small area of kitchen."
"A lovely lady called Amanda was on hand to give advice as we had been having problems getting the correct shade."
"After having to travel to this store due to lack of quality tool storage boxes in my area I was very happy with what was offered."
"All the needs of construction workers and farmers under one roof, in addition to furniture, kitchens and gardens."
"Super ranges of kitchen equipment better than others builder equipment suppliers."
"Great large store offering almost everything you could need for the home."
Cons:
"No cycle parking. Using the nearby National Cycle Route to pick up a few screws and bits… but there is nowhere to park your bicycle."
"The shop has improved somewhat since they took on staff from homebase. However their electronic stock system is still terrible."
"Received half a kitchen last week, assured off three members of staff the rest will be delivered today... delivery driver attempts to deliver part of the order (not the whole order yet again) and 4 and half hours earlier than the agreed time slot."
"I always check prices before i go as can get some of the goods cheaper elsewhere."
"Solar ball light waste of money stayed on for 10 minutes, went to collect order had text on the phone was not going to give me my order because I had no ID."
"Ordered some goods online to collect within the hour... only to be told the majority of them where out of stock."
"Sadly the great B&Q is trying to be an online market, teaming up with sellers who provide disgraceful quality products."
Pricing & Payment
Pros:
"Very expensive place we went there to buy few items like a light bulb and a screwdriver with few flower pots and a measuring tape with some sand paper, with the discount the price was crazy we paid nearly 71£ after the discount for literally few items, we're never coming back again it's certainly not cheap place."
"A nice array of products for the house."
"Helpful and polite staff, well stocked."
"Big but couldn't do without the place at times."
"He was brilliant! He explained what every accessory was best for and suggested which one he would have bought for what I needed."
"Many shelves are empty and the item we gambled on solving the problem, we could have got locally yesterday for less."
"Great shop for all your home DIY needs - be prepared to go in for paint and come out with a new garden shed, a nice lamp, a BBQ or two and maybe the paint as well - always a good experience and gives you good options."
Cons:
"Parking can get a bit tight if you park near the entrance so drive on and park further into the car park."
"Bought a light bulb from here took it home tried to use it and it didn't work."
"Some of the staff very helpful and kind. But quite lots arrogant and ignorant when they're busy and near closing time."
"Easy to find and access via ramp, just coming out of the roundabout. The car parks have plenty of spaces."
"They refused saying they only cut sheet wood."
"Car park was pretty full but they had a fast turnover at the tills."
"Unfortunately I have had to give a less than satisfactory rating as the store does not accept contactless payments."
